When do others get to feel the baby kick? I started feeling kicks on Friday night and each time I am still amazed but my poor DH puts his hand on my belly and doesn't feel anything yet. Do you know when others can feel the kicks?

I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T TELL ME THIS ON THE PHONE!!!
I know for me, Jeff was able to feel some little movements around 18 weeks - my Mom got to feel the baby when we were home for Christmas - around 20-21 weeks...so, SOON!

Sorry Claud- I must have forgotten. I am at 20 weeks and no kicks for Scott. I guess we have to just keep trying. We do read to the baby everyday now though. I am really enjoying that.

Michele, at that stage, we could feel the baby kick the most when I was lying flat on my back.

Okay, I just had to add that the baby just kicked kicked Arnold, who jumped off my lap with the most startled expression a dog can have!

Claud, at 18weeks?? wow! I dont remember exactly when but at 18weeks it was just flutters inside, it was definately not 'kicks' yet for me. Isnt the fetus way too small to even kick that far at 18weeks??? The fetus is 20cm in length at 18weeks. I think john felt the kicks in the 5th month. but I dont remember exactly when.

Anna, if you *read* exactly what I wrote, I said Jeff felt 'small movements' at 18 weeks....he wasn't feeling 'kicks' per se - but he could feel the baby's whole body tumbling and rolling around in my belly while I was lying very still.
Kicks felt on the outside didn't start until some where around 19, 20, 21 weeks, like I said. I know it was definitely around Christmas b/c I was home in NY with my family and I had already had my Level II sonogram on December 19th, when we found out the baby was Paul.

Claud, I guess I didnt *READ* what you wrote
I could barely explain the feeling to John at 18weeks. To me it was more like like little blurbs, the baby was sooo tiny, he barely 'made a dent' ... But even THAT was heaven on earth !

Best time is in bed. Just lie still & DON'T TALK!!! I used to grab my husbands hand & place it on there. Because if I said the babies kicking my son would stop.

Michele, Steve always feels it best when I lie down on the bed. Also have him talk to the baby, the baby will respond to his voice and kick more once he recognizes it. At least that is what happens with us

Re: Kicks for me, but how about DH
Scott reads a book everynight to the baby while I am laying down. But he cannot feel the kicks just yet. I am sure it will soon. the baby does kick when he is reading though I was not crazy about the flutter feelings, as it made me feel like I had butterflies in my stomach and that is how i get when I am nervous about something. It put me into 'nervous' mode. But I love the kicks

Re: Kicks for me, but how about DH
I remember it took a while for Peter to be around exactly when the baby kicked. Maybe a few weeks after the first time I felt it. After he felt it once though, whenever he felt like feeling her kick or move, he would ask, can you mke the baby kick? And eating, drinking cold water, laying down, and tapping my belly often worked.

Re: Kicks for me, but how about DH
Joe got kicked in the face twice around my 23rd week, and he loved it!!!! Now on Sunday night, the Baby Bear Cub had the hiccups and Joe flipped out going 'OMG, help him' (he thinks it's a ) and I'm like 'what the heck am I going to do'!! I was laughing, but Neurotic Nelly made me turn on my left side so the baby can get more oxygen so that it would stop hiccuping!!!!! He's out of his mind!!
Needless to say, I didn't bother telling him the baby had the hiccups last night either!!!

Re: Kicks for me, but how about DH
I started feeling more than just flutters about 2 weeks ago. But Vinnie definitely couldn't feel them ... he'd have his hand on my stomach waiting & I'm going .... Did you feel that?! Did you feel that?! Nothing.
But yesterday .... I was lying in the recliner at Mom's & the baby was very active ... I sat there for about 10 minutes watching my stomach bounce all over the place!! Now, he should be able to feel it!
