Just curious how people are dealing or have dealt with this. We are planning to have just my two first cousins (ages 11 and 7) who are in the bridal party and very well behaved. But FH has several stepsisters and brothers with kids, and they'll probably staying out near where the wedding is. We're still not sure if there will be enough room in the venue for their kids, but there is the possibility that there will be. A couple are really young, around 2 or 3, and I was thinking it would be better for their parents to get away for a nice adult party, even if it is during the day. The wedding is at a vineyard and I can just see them not having a good time because their kids are running through the vines and getting lost!
Would it be OK to give an age cut-off, or should I just keep it at BP kids only? The 10-year-olds I think we can handle, but then I wonder if it's fair to invite some?

Re: Kids at a day wedding?
I had a hard time with this... and then decided no kids.. and none in the bridal party.. I didn't know what to do with them afterwards.. I mean if they stay and there aren't any other kids.. they will be bored.. so it was hard.... I'm sure some of my relatives are not happy.........

It's really up to you guys. If we decided to have a FG and RB then those will be th eonly children invited to the reception. No one under 18 is invited.

Re: Kids at a day wedding?
The only kids we had were first cousins (the youngest was 10 and was a jr. bridesmaid). FIL and new wife had an infant and they didn't even bring him. Luckily we didn't even have to ask them not to bring the baby. I see nothing wrong with a no kids policy, but I'm sure others feel differently.

Re: Kids at a day wedding?
I think that I would keep the bridal party children only. It will eliminate confusion and animosity

we're having a day wedding, too, but my flower girl will be the only child there... just easier for everyone that way

The only kids we are having are the 2 that are in the bridal party. I'm leaving it up to the parents if they want to bring them to the reception.

Re: Kids at a day wedding?
Kids at a wedding are an individual call. FH & I view this completely differently. IMO, children don't really understand the goings on at a wedding, and the parents don't really get to enjoy themselves because they are busy keeping an eye out on the kids. I also have a bunch of cousins that I'm not close with that have kids between the ages of 3-7, which would add substantially to the guest list if they are invited. I know they will all probably RSVP with a no, if the kids are not invited, but a few will say yes if the kids can come. As I'm not close at all with these cousins, but have to invite them b/c they're family, I don't want to include the kids on the invite list.
FH on the other hand thinks infants shouldn't be invited, but kids are OK, but can't tell me what age child he thinks is OK. He has a bunch of friends with kids and/or step-kids and he wants to include them all on the invite list. He said his friends won't come without their kids - I said that's fine by me because we can only afford a certain number of guests. He truly did not appreciate that answer.
And the feud continues . . . . . .

Re: Kids at a day wedding?
My opinion is no Kids.... I went to a wedding once at San Souci and their bar is slightly lower... well the 4 year olds were picking up 'juice' left over on the bar and they were drunk! I also think that the parents then do not get to have as good as a time
