I'm having my reception at a UU church, and I'm going to rent out two sunday school classrooms so that the young kids could have a play room while the grown up party and another room for them to go to sleep because the party will be long. I'm hiring a babysitter for them who will make sure they eat and get some sleep and not kill each other. The question is how do I tell the parents to bring with their kids sleeping bags and change of PJs? Do I put in the invitation or do I call them up and explain? Will most parents have their kids just leave when it gets late?

Re: Kids at the wedding
You could add an insert to the invitations - for people bring kids, letting them know what arrangments you have made for them.

put it in the invitation for them to know and have them call you if they are interest in that option. that is very nice of you to do that.

Make something up with all the info. Insert in with the invitations.

Re: Kids at the wedding
I would make up a small card similar to the direction inserts, put them with the invites and have the information on it that you will have all this available to them if they choose to take you up on your offer.
Some people might leave early because of the kids, or not bring them at all, so you might not have many kids to worry about.

Add an insert in the invitations of people with kids.
