Sorry if I seem to be asking the same thing, but I'm trying to figure out how this works...if you have Mr. and Mrs. Smith and child (or children) do you put all the names on one seating card, or do you give everybody separate cards? Also I have to indicate on the seating cards, who is eating beef, chicken, etc.....how should I do this?

Re: Kids at the wedding...
As for the kids, unless they're sitting at a separate table from there parents then i would just put Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Family. Not sure about the food part. Are you sure it has to be on the seating card or maybe you can do it on the seating chart?

Re: Kids at the wedding...
There are only four kids, so I figured I would sit them with their parents. The caterer wants the guests choice listed on the seating card, so I may just have to do seating cards for every guest, adult and child.....

We just did 'The Smith Family' on the placecard since they were all sitting at the same table, anyway.

I'm giving the kids thir own cards because most of them will be seated at there own tables....mind you the kids are from 13-17.

As for the food part-we have to do the same thing as we're getting married in FL and that's how they roll! I would ask the reception hall how they prefer it done. I've been to a wedding in DC where the food choices were written on the back of the seating card and the waiters just came over and looked at that. Every place may have their own system....

Re: Kids at the wedding...
for the food choice, my friend gave everyone their own placecard and put a colored rhinestone on the top right corner of the placecard. Each color corresponded to a food choice. For example, people who chose chicken got a pink rhinestone sticker so that the servers would know.

Re: Kids at the wedding...
I remember going through this with my sister.
I ended up just doing a spreadsheet that I had them post in the kitchen so the servers knew how many of each dish at each table.
When they served they asked as they went around what the person had ordered.
ETA: I found this worked better then color dots only because people change their seats or aren't sitting when the food comes, etc.
People don't mind saying 'oh no I got the fish' or switching if they put it at the wrong place setting.
