Re: Kids At Wedding

I feel your pain. However, we are having a FG, but she is leaving after ceremony. There will be no children at the reception. I have made it very clear that children are more than welcome to attend the ceremony but, after that, bye bye!

I've only had a couple of minor issues with this (so far), but stick to your guns!

'No Kids' isn't for me but that's what YOU and FH want so they can STFU and get over themselves. You even offered to pay for a sitter which is more than generous.

Stick to your guns.

Tell FH to deal with this... they're his family and make sure you say NO EXCEPTIONS END OF STORY!

I completely agree with you....stand your ground dnt give in....I have the same problem. We dont want kids at our wedding either and I told that to EVERYONE and bc of this half my family will not be attending , and my cousin in florida is fighting with me even saying he will leave the 4 kids (1yr old - 5 yrs) at the hotel while they are at the reception

I agree... stick to your guns!

This is your day - don't let it be tarnished by agreeing to something you don't want. They had plenty of notice to make arrangements...

sorry i kinda agree with them... we have a cut off age of 13 for extended family but my nieces and nephews that are younger than that are invited... if Shaun had nieces and nephews they would be too...

ETA: BUT thats my wedding... if you guys dont want kids then they should deal with it...

u can def have an adult only reception, HOWEVER, i do think its a little rude to make your flowergirl leave after the ceremony, granted your fsil should have neever agreed to that and now bish about it, but i think even if you do have adults only, you should allow your fg and rb to attend, after all little girls get so excited to be fg's and show off their cute dresses, jmo

I agree with this also. Which is why I was hesitant about having flower girls and ring bearers. My RB is my godson, and my best friend wants him to go home after the church so she can enjoy herself. This is why when we asked her we made sure she knew. I would never be mad if she didn't want her in it due to this. I just can't stand that she told my FH that she was perfectly fine with it, and then has her mom and dad do all the complaining.

No kids means no kids. It's your decision. They should respect that. If it makes it easier for them, ask if they'd rather your niece not be a flower girl and have a babysitter watch both of them from the get-go. That way they wouldn't have to do anything between the ceremony & reception.

I also considered having the kids stay through dinner and then have them get picked up by a babysitter (this is what my parents always did with me when I was in weddings as a child). Unfortunately FH and I both agree we can't trust his mom and sister to have this done. They will pull something like 'oh the babysitter didn't show up' or 'shes too upset to leave'.

My FG is my BFF's daughter - and we spoke about it beforehand - My BFF had no problem with having FG leave - she said she wanted a night out without the kids

This is your wedding. You dont have to feel guilted into anything you dont want. Have your FH put his foot down and tell them to stop pressuring you. Youre not wrong for wanting no kids at the reception.

Playpen behind the bride and grooms table?!?! Um, I love kids but NO THANKS to that.

Stick to your guns. Youre not wrong. Good luck!
