we agreed that there won't be any children at the wedding....The only ones under 21 are 3 ppl in bp (ages 18-20)
My father has even started telling his brothers that their grandchildren will not be attending the wedding...my fam is all on the same page on this.
FH's fam is very small and very close.... They are mostly adults but there is one grandchild, 12 y.o girl... I told fh to tell his dad that the child wont be attending, my father has already spoken to his fam and honestly it would very f'ed up if she shows up while all the other kids in my fam dont
FFIL doesnt agree at all and this past wknd they were all discussing how fh's litle cousin will keep grandma company at the reception
my rh doesnt provide child/adult prices so my dad refuses to pay $200 for a kid that obv wont be enjoying the wedding to the max.
what do i do.....

if its just ONE kid, i dont think that u shoudl stress over it. dont count her in the final count. chances are the RH wont even notice.
dont fight over it. its just ONE kid

Re: kids @ wedding..... dilemma!
i would explain how it would put u in an uncomfortable situation since there were many other younger ppl you could not invite
and leave it at that. dont count ther person in the total you give to RH. and whatever they do that day, its on them

pretty much... dont tell them they are allowed to come because that will cause more drama for you when your fam finds out...

I think that if there are little ones on your side that you didn't invite because of their age then you must stand firm on this. In the end your FFIL isn't paying.

I;d just let this one slide. She's not a total kid, she's almost a teenager. So, if it will keep everyone happy and not fighting, I say let this one go. If people get nasty about it, just tell them she is taking care of the grandma. (its great if she really does keep the grandma company!)

i would be inclined to say no, because you are trying to keep no kids at a wedding. i would have your FH explain that to his family and ttell them that there are many kids you'd like to invite but cant.
we originally had a no kids rule, and ppl asked us about it and we said no way. there were a total of 4 kids at our wedding- 3 were in the BP. the last one was only 18 months old so she was free- DH's cousin asked if he could bring her at the last minute because she was being fussy with the babysitter. we said yes cuz she's very close with the family and she was free. however if i would've had to pay for her, i would've thought twice about it.

I would stand firm and say NO KIDS.
FH's family is like your FH's family....very small and close and mostly adults....but there are four kids (ages 6 to 13). I have children in my family as well, and I'm not including any of them. I knew he would throw a fit if these 4 kids didn't come, so the way I worked it was to put all 4 of these kids in the bridal party.

Re: kids @ wedding..... dilemma!
The only 'kids' we originally invited were BP (nieces & nephews). But DH's bff is from another state and we spend a lot of time with the whole family (4 kids). Although no other kids were invited (including all my cousin's kids...even from out of state) I gave in and let him invite them. I was worried about what all the family would say, but what I decided was that this was our day and we can make our decisions for our reasons. No one seemed to be bothered by it that day, and if they were, so be it.
If it would mean that much to FH's family to have her there, I think you should consider inviting her.

put your foot down.. and keep it there. we're having adults only, except the kids in the bridal party. and we will not budge on that, it has led to several disagreements and arguments... but WE do not want children, and it is OUR wedding. if someone has a problem with that, they can stay home.

sorry to say this but it's a lose-lose situation for you ... you either allow her to come and your family is mad, or you don't allow her to come and your FH's family is mad.
can you meet in the middle and invite her to the ceremony only?
or have your FH's parents pay for her?
good luck!

ITA!!! People are so ridiculous what part of ADULT reception don't they get. I put it on my invites and told my parents and his mother who totally agreed. His family has a ton of kids. So far no static but I will not be surprised if they try to bring them and are just not asking me to avoid the drama, But I will have the BM ask them to leave at cocktail hour, That way it's more like the RH than it is me directly causing a scene at my wedding. Ceremony fine but reception no means no.
