kids at weddings, again

kids at weddings, again

So FH says to me last night that his uncle (also his godfather) that he sees once a year if he is lucky who lives in westchester might not be able to make it to the wedding because they can't find someone to watch the baby. Two months away and you already know that you can't find someone to watch the baby?????? Come on!!!!

FH and I agreed from the beginning noone under 18 except for the ring bearers and flower girls.

OH WELL!!!!!!!!!!! A deal is a deal and if you agreed no kids, than its no kids. Do not let people manipulate you into getting what they want!! Believe me if you told everyone elso no kids and this guy shows up with kids, that will be an even bigger problem, trust me,

My niece is 15 months old. My sister had a babysitter for the wedding. She has been scrambling now for almost a month since the sitter backed out.

Can the in-laws watch the baby?

That is what my SIL and BIL did for my neice for my wedding.

We are going to have a sitter at the reception hall, in the bridal suite, for out of town kids. I have actually been the babysitting in a situation like this, and it seemed to work well for everyone.

I can totally relate. I have a cousin that is coming alone because she claims to not have a babysitter. She doesn't want anyone else to watch her kids.

Sounds to me like an excuse not to come...

We are going through the SAME issue with FH's aunt. She called AGAIN to see if she could bring her 6 yr old son. And if she can't, then her husband is going to have to stay home, b/c there are ONLY two people in this entire world that she would leave him with....I DON'T NEED THIS STRESS!!!! FH is dealing with her because I cannot at this point....I think it is rude to keep hasseling the bride and groom, when we already told her our answer!

I don't want to sound like a meanie, but I kind of agree that you need to stick to your guns on the no kids rule, otherwise, you'll get some people 'well, they got to bring their kids, why couldn't we' type of whining. Offer to try and assist them in finding a babysitter nearby or se if their in-laws can watch the baby and see what happens.

hold on.....as a parent, i know that sometimes, it's IMPOSSIBLE to find someone...and i don't have a brat for a child, she's a very well-behaved 5 year old. my in-laws who live 5 minutes away have their own lives and make plans, usually if i need a sitter, it's because we are hanging out with our friends so we can't always ask them...and maybe our single/childless friends want to go out on a friday night! it is rather rude to assume someone can find a sitter b/c sometimes, it is impossible.

never assume it's an 'excuse' but possibly the truth.

eta---like Jen said...if you let 1 kid in, someone else will complain they didn't get to bring theirs.

i still say you should maybe look into a local sitter here for kids that day so that if anyone else runs into the problem, you have a solution all lined up! sitters bail at the last minute, too...we had my MIL signed up to watch my daughter one evening and she cancelled on us [so we had to cancel our plans] to go out with DH's uncle and wife...oddly, the uncle and wife ended up cancelling the plans. so we were annoyed...but that's life.

i don't think its rude to assume u can't find a babysitter-and sometimes, i do think it is impossible-for ppl who dont have family or friends to watch them...

the ppl who wnated to bring their kids had DEF ppl to watch them...

Re: kids at weddings, again

I think what is bothering me is that they hadn't gotten the invitation yet and the wedding is 55 days away and they are already predicting that they can't go. I understand finding a babysitter for that long period of time is hard but maybe the inlaws on the other side can do it. PLUS we sent out STD's over a year ago. It could have been planned.
