Kids from previous relationship

Re: Kids from previous relationship

I have a 15 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. The kids are taller than me now! I'm 36 and this is my second marriage -- the first one ended in a few short years. My kids are in the wedding -- I thought about making my daughter the maid of honor but then my son might feel left out.

It's not easy to take care of children, work full time and plan the wedding of your dreams -- I'm exhausted!

I am 35 and have an 11 year old daughter from a previous relationship. I was never married to her dad, but we were together for 10 years
Anyway, she will be my maid of honor. She is actually as tall as I am (5'2')

I was wondering if anyone else has kids from a previous relationship?

Debi's Sis does. My Grandson. And my other Daughter is expecting a proposal from the guy she's been with for three yrs. One issue that has been discussed is whether our Grandson wants his future Step-Dad's last name. Grandson said no, but was interested in hyphenating his last name, and using his current last name+ his new Step-Dad's name. I totally understand why Grandson is reluctant to take on a new last name at age 11. He's beginning his pre-teen yrs. He probably doesn't want his peers to make fun of him. I don't even know how a name change process works, and if his biological father would have to sign off on allowing Grandson to be adopted. My Daughter receives child support from the biological father, but he has never been a part of Grandson's life. Would like to hear about other Moms, and how they plan to handle name change situations. Mary MOB

PS Grandson is a Jr. GM in Debi's wedding.

My DH is adopting DD, your grandsons father will have to sign away his rights to his son, then your DD and FSIL can have a private adoption. It takes a lot of paperwork, but isn't that bad.

I have a 8 year old son and he has 6 six year old daughter. He's going to adopt my son after the wedding, he is pretty much the only father he has known

the baby is my beautiful niece -- I'm a first time aunt and I'm so in love with that kid! I even bought her and my FG matching dresses -- though she'll only be 9 months old at the wedding :)
