Kids or No Kids?

Kids or No Kids?

Alright I'm in a bit of a dilemma...do you think that it's better to have a cut off age or no kids at all?

FH wants NO kids at the wedding being that it's a Sunday night wedding.........but I don't know if we should cut off the age at 13 or something?

But then there are sibling that one is over 13 and one is 2 so how do you get around that?

Opinions please...thanks

Kids is a really sticky situation - we are only inviting the children on our siblings and our first cousins only. It works out for us because it leaves us with out 10 kids and only 2 of them will be over 5 so our RH isnt charging for them. I know that people sometimes have an 18 or older wedding, but honestly I'd rather have the older kids there than younger if I was choosing because they dont cause disruptions.

The only kids (ie people under 18) we're inviting are nieces nephews and my cousins. If people ask, we just say that was our cut off.

I don't want to hurt anyones feelings...FH doesn't care he said that it's our day and that's it....but I feel so bad. Maybe I feel this way because FH stepmom is insisting that her daughter in laws daughter be the flower girl and I'm feeling pressure because I really don't want kids in the bridal party......oh gosh this is going to be a tough one..........how would you tell guests it's adults only?

i was in a similar situation...i wanted to invite my second cousins who are all under 13 so I said we should cut the guest list at second cousins. the problem was on FHs side his second cousins have kids (FHs 3rd cousins) the same age as my first cousins kids. I didnt feel right inviting kid on my side but not on FHs side. So we decided no kid except for the ones in the wedding.

Not inviting them either, except for immediate family members kids. The only other exception we have is if the guest is an OOT guest and that is basically it.

I guess Im a weirdo since we are having kids...I think kids really can bring a lot to a party. But if you are having a big fancy wedding and dont want to be stepping on rugrats all night, then definitely just don't invite them at all. A lot of times the parents will be grateful for a night away from the kids anyway. And if thats what you want, then you have the last word!

We're not inviting kids. The only 'kid' coming is my first cousin who will be 16 at the time. Neither of us really have many kids in the family to begin with, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I am doing no kids. 18 and over only. I want the adults to have a good time.

We wanted no one under 18 but FMIL put a stop to that...but our hall limits the number of kids under 18 to ten the max and they don't allow kids under 5...so that helped us alot.... I would make the cut off 18....good luck!

I think its better with no kids at all.
In a situation that would be okay in though. Cause for us we would have NO GUESTS without their kids...loads of OoTers

Just curious, why did you let your FMIL chose if you can have kids at your wedding or not??
