Just wanted to pass along some baby bargains info...the Kids R Us near the Smith Haven Mall is closing for good sometime in April (I think the 16th?). I stopped in there last week and they still have a pretty large selection of Spring/Summer clothing. I picked up a couple of great deals for Paul - 2 tees and 2 shorts for next year for like $6, and 1 pair of Sketchers sandals for $3; and the 'water shoes' sandals for $3.50.
AND....
I even scored two pairs of shoes for Mommy! That's a good part about having a smaller sized foot I got a pair of Espirit mules for $13 and a pair of black/grey Sketchers for $20! The Sketchers alone cost close to $50 at most stores! *doing my little bargain happy dance*

The one by me in College Point has been closing for awhile and by the time I got there, there wasn't anything left for me to buy but the fixtures! (And I'm not joking either!)
Great deals!!! And you crack me up with the whole shoe thing for yourself!! Good for you!!!
BTW, you look fantastic!!! Love the new 'do!

Okay, this is just my stupid selfish VENT about Easter clothes for the boys....NOTHING, they have NOTHING that is dressy enough or cute enough! These stores think that a pair of Dockers and a sweater vest constitutes dressy! I want a little suit or special outfit, not coordinating separates!!!
Am I really asking TOO MUCH???? Any other Moms of boys share my frustration? I am seriously thinking of ordering Paul's Easter outfit online!

Aw, thanks Deb!
And, the shoe thing is sad...but, since I had to donate about 24 pairs of shoes after my pregnancy, I am still working on replenishing my selection! I love it when I can do it for much less than retail!

Aw, you didn't set me off Stacey This has been my on-going gripe since Paul was born...
The selection of little girl clothing is far superior...it's so not fair! I was thinking of trying Little Dickens or Bib and Tucker, but I don't know if they carry larger sizes for someone Paul's age?

The one by me closed already. I went there about a month ago and got Annalise 3 pairs shoes in larger sizes for $30. For another $30 I got tons of shirts and a few pairs of shorts.
Claud, I find cute boys suits all the time with shirt/pants/tie and sometimes suspenders for my nephew. The best places are Sears, Pennys, and Macys.
I just shopped the 70% off rack at Sears. It is all leftover witner clothing. I took a guess that Annalise will be a 2T next winter. I got 4 shirts and 2 cardigans for $20. I have been doing well at guessing her size for the following season. I got 90% of her spring/summer clothes on clearance last year.

Claud- I agree. Easter is the one time I would like to dress Lukie in a seersucker suit or something else equally as cute but they're hard to come by. Keep checking ebay. I got the most adorable outfit for him last year with a bunny print and matching sweater, a great brand name (Absorba I think) at a really good price. Otherwise, all the cute seersucker-y stuff is mainly jonjons, not suitable for a NY Easter.
If anyone sees anything that doesnt cost $85 (or something equally ridiculous), please post on it!
ETA: How did you decide what size shoes to get for the summer? Did you just go up a 1/2 size?

Claud - I TOTALLY agree!!! I had this problem at Christmas -- I think boys get totally gypped on the dressy clothes end!!
Elizabeth- I was told the rule of thumb for the first 2 yrs. is their feet grow approx. 1 size every 3 months. Annalise was in size 4 for about 3 and a half months. She started size 5's in the middle of Feb. I guessed she would be a 6 for the summer since she seems to be following that trend. If she does not fit in them for the beginning of June as I expect, then she can sontinue to wear the size 5 sandals I just got her for vacation in April. She will get some use out of the 6's for sure. For $5-$8 a pair I am willing to take my chances. I can always find someone to give them to if they are brand new. If you want to want until closer to the summer, you can skip BRU and get cheap sandals at Marshalls that are still a good name. I think I paid $8 last week.

I have workder retail for many years.. and just a piece of Caution when you go into the store.. The prices are good.. but wait till the end.. the Kidrus that i went to I actually found the SAME stuff CHEAPER at my Toysrus at 50% the price. What happens is that an outside company comes in and regulates all the prices. So what looks like a deal really is not a deal.. I did so well at Kohls when they had 70% the markdown prices.. that I got a TON of stuff for under $50.
Claud- Why don;t you try Old Navy or even Kohls for an Easter outfit.. They always seesm to be havinga sale...
