KILL BILL

KILL BILL

I'm still not sure what I thought about it. It was definitely the grossest movie I've ever seen, and I def. wouldn't allow my children under 17 to see it. It was really just stylistic, b/c the plot and many of the details were really unbelievable.

What's disturbing is this though:

In the NYTimes they had an article about it and many women were saying that it was EMPOWERING, and one woman said she couldn't wait to take her 15 year old daughter.

Does anyone else find the idea of women, or anyone, beheading people and cutting off limbs the farthest thing from the kind of empowerment young women need?

Nope, I actully loved it and didn't think it was that gross (definitely not the grossest I've ever seen) because it was all very 'cartoonish' blood (like how it sprayed out and all). I totally loved this movie and if I had a 15 year old daughter I would DEFINITELY take her to see it!!! It's just a movie... I'm not trying to suggest she go find Hattori Hanzo or anything and start beheading people! I don't think it's meant to be taken literally.

Huge Quentin Tarantino fan here

I intend on seeing this even tho' I hate watching killing.
b.c it's Quentin Tarantino, I'm sure it'll be good.
I don't know if I would take my 15 year old b/c I haven't seen it yet, but depending on the maturity level of the child you can make that decision.

I actually liked the movie too. I said gross but I guess I meant gory.

I'm just not sure how people can see it as 'empowering for women'. I found the article (not the movie) disturbing.

Huge Quentin Tarantino fan - was dying to see this movie and fully expected to see a lot of blood/murder/etc. BUT...after reading a few reviews about the necropheliac scene - I changed my mind. I've become intolerable to gratuitous sex/rape scenes in movies. From what I understand this happens to Uma's character AFTER everyone she loved was murdered and shew as left for dead. Was raping her on top of all that beneficial to the art of the movie?

Correct me if I've read wrong...(I'm not usually a fan of reviews).

Not sure about the rape but a coworker of mine saw the movie and hated it.

She said it was very gory and there was no plot. She had to walk out during one part because she said it was just too much killing and gore with no understanding of why....

The idea is the movie was too long for it to be one movie. So they split it. The later movie explains a lot of the first movie. Sex with Uma while she’s in a coma seems over the edge but from what I hear.. she makes sure the guy who sold her body pays the ultimate price.

I haven’t seen it. FH wants to see it. We decided that instead we are seeing Scary Movie 3 (Oct 24), Matrix Revolutions (Nov 5), TimeLine (Nov twenty something) and then I think the Last Lord of Rings movie.
