But do you know anyone who likes to attend wakes, like just to say they went. I know someone who is always finding out somehow, when people die. Like it could be a family member, whom he never met, of an aquaintance from 10 years ago who he hasn't seen in 10 years. He will then say how he was going to go to the wake, like he was invited somehow, and couldn't make it. Or went to the wake once of a person who he met once, for about 2 minutes and this person probably wouldn't even remember him. They were never friends or even aquaintances. Is this odd

Re: Kind of a weird death question
we were at a wake a few years ago for my friends father... and my friends sister said a guy she used to know would go to any wake of anyone that he knew that passed away... i dont know if he 'liked' wakes... but she said like people he barely knew, distant relatives of friends... and he would go

Wouldn't you feel like akward though? If the wake is smaller, people will notice when someone walks in, so wouldn't the family there be like who the hell is this..

I know someone who likes to go to wakes. But it's not out of respect for the person or families. It's to look for single men. I am not kidding. Sick. And she's not young either. reminds me of the guy in Wedding Crashers.

Re: Kind of a weird death question
I agree it weird to enjoy going to them, like you enjoy going to the movies but sometimes when ppl lose someone close to them....they kinda become obsessed w/death as a way to cope w/their own feelings of grief. Shortly after my brother passed away I went to a support group for those that lost a sibling and there was a girl there who said she went to one any chance she got. Her reason why was that b/c she was in so much pain all the time and felt like she didnt know how to live her life anymore the way she did b/f her brother died that she felt a need to be around others who were experiencing the same feelings she was. She also said it made her feel closer to her brother.....that I never understood. The counselor advised her that it would be probably be healthier to join multiple support groups than to attend wakes / funerals to feel better. I never saw her again after that so I'm not sure what she did.
