So FH and I talked about going to Fiji for our honeymoon in the beginning. Then we decided that we really want to go to Italy and since we're going for 2 weeks, we have a lot of time to explore. Now, I feel like we will be soo busy running around in Italy, that we won't be able to relax and enjoy the honeymoon as much as if we were on an island, like Fiji.
It's been driving me crazy for the past few days and I just can't decide what to do.
What do you girls think?

Re: Kind of conflicted
we were kind of in the same situation....we wanted to do Greece and Italy - 16 days....then we figured there was too much running around to do and we wanted to see too many different places in both, and we would be exhausted, aside from the fact we would have to stop and visit some family also.....
we decided to go to St Lucia (i think) for our HM right after the wedding and save the Greece/Italy trip for the summer after we are married.....we kind of both agreed that we just wantd to lay on the beach and do nothing! LOL.....
could you maybe save Italy for the following year?? Either way, fiji or italy, you will have an amazing hm!

Re: Kind of conflicted
This is the main reason we're not doing a med. cruise. We don't want to sit on a beach all day but we don't want to do the touristy thing either.

i think it all depends on what you want out of a honeymoon. Italy sounds amazing but if you really want a honeymoon where you are looking to relax more than I def think going somewhere more beachy is a good idea. You can always do Italy at another time.

Re: Kind of conflicted
honestly we decided against europe because we felt like we wouldn't be able to relax. FH has never been to italy before and wants to see everything. and i will never get tired of seeing everything either. but for us, we really really really need to just chill. we've both (ok mostly me) been going nonstop for months now and we thought it best to HM somewhere where we didn't feel like we had to do stuff just because we were there.

Re: Kind of conflicted
We were conflicted on this as well, but we decided that we didn't want to waste any precious time during our hm flying - we didn't want to go anywhere that would require us to lose a day or two on a plane. So, we decided to do Europe (Paris and then Italy). FH has never been to Italy, but I've been so many times, and studied abroad there, I don't ever really feel like a tourist there. Also, we love to walk around and explore, and we don't really feel a lot of pressure to see 'everything' because we know we will be going back - we are just doing really nice hotels, 4 and 5 stars only, which we may not do again in the future. We are even skipping Rome and Venice!! We are just doing Paris, Florence, and Capri. The time we are spending in Capri will be all rest and relaxation. We wanted a nice balance.

Fiji would be amazing but remember that's a long *** flight. you'd basically be spending 2 days flying.

FH and I and I went back and forth on this too. We really wanted to go to Europe but I knew we would never be able to relax so we were torn between Hawaii and Europe. We ended up deciding on Aruba which was cheaper than Hawaii so we can save some money to do Europe the summer after we are married.

Re: Kind of conflicted
Thanks girls. I feel like our honeymoon is once in a lifetime and when are we ever going to be able to go to Fiji for 2 weeks and not have to worry about anything. Hopefully we have kids in a few years and there is no way we'd be able to take such a long flight with the kids.
My main concern was being bored on the beach for 2 weeks but I really looked into it and there are sooo many things to do there. So we'll see what happens.

Originally we were thinking Italy too but then we decided not to because of this same exact reason. So, we are going to St. Lucia and then saving Italy for the following year!

it seems like you've made up your mind, but i think Fiji is the way to go. Italy is wonderful and an excellent trip but it's not a honeymoon. it's not that far away, it involves a ton of sight seeing (and it's not worth it if you don't do the sight seeing). fiji is exotic and a once in a lifetime kind of place.

Re: Kind of conflicted
We are dealing with the same conflict.....FH has been to Italy, and I have never left the country.
On one hand, he really wants to be the one to take me to Europe for my first trip there, and he feels that since he has been there numerous times, he will feel more comfortable showing me around. My problem with this is we will be doing so much sightseeing that I am afraid I will be tired and just want to relax the first few days.
But on the other hand, we both feel that we might want to relax.
We're also considering St. Lucia as an alternate as well.

By no means am I starting but I have to respectfully disagree that Italy is a honeymoon. As a matter of fact, it was recently named the #1 hm destination - in some bride magazine. To each his own, but Italy is the most romantic place in the world and there is nowhere I'd rather be on my hm!!

Re: Kind of conflicted
while italy is totally romantic and there are tons of things to do, i wouldnt go for my HM just because i know im going to be exhausted after the wedding. after our trip to italy this past august, i was completely exhausted. we r going to st. lucia and while we plan on vegging out on the beach, we also want to do all the ecxursions as well.

Re: Kind of conflicted
We're doing a European cruise with stops in Italy, Greece and Turkey. We NEED a 'touristy' HM, because we're 'touristy' people. We can't lay on a beach for longer than a half hour without getting restless, lol. The nice thing is there are about two days just at sea on our cruise, so we will have some time to relax on those days.

I'm totally with you on not being able to lie on the beach all day. But I looked into this and they have sooo many activities to do, so now I feel better. We went to Paris last year when we go engaged and we loved it but we came back exhausted every single day. When we were back from our vacation, we came home exhausted and needed another week off just to relax, lol.
It's either now or never with Fiji I feel. So annoying to have to go back and forth on this.
