Ok this may make me sound weird but does anyone else have alot of hair?
I guess with this wedding I am getting more critical, but I have always been self-consious with hair on my face.
Does anyone else have a problem with like sideburns, I feel so manly with hair on the side of my face! Then my lip, and chin and the fizzies everywhere else! I guess its the italian curse!
I currently wax/thread my eyebrows and then wax and tweeze my lip and chin, in the past every once and a while or on speical occations i would wax my side burns but I am terrified to get like mutton chops!
Does anyone have any advice on how to get rid of it? I wax and i HATE it I honestl have to do it like once a week and i always get little breakouts, I tried threading, but am scared because the crazy b*tch that did ti last time caught my lip in the thread and I had a huge cut and bruise for like a week and my family kept asking if i had herpies (god bless my fam!) i am seriously contenplating lazer remover, but I don't know anyone whose done it. Has anyone been to arpis spa in queens? I have gotten great waxing there and the lady said that do lazor...
Edited because I feel like a hairy beasty freak lol

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
i think u and i are going to be best friends. im very hairy as everyone knows cuz i complain about it like EVERYDAY lol
i got 2 laser treatments at arpis. arpi herself is winderful. i had to pause my treatments cuz u cant be tan at allllllllll.. so i will continue in january after all myw edding events so i can be somewhat less grizzly for my wedding lollllllll
i had my entire face threaded on Wed. i broke out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad. i do NOT recommend it. it KILLS and the pimples are STILL on my face along with NEWLY GROWN HAIR. WOOWHOOOOOO!!! ( i went to the threading place on union tpke next to bagels n cream)
i wax myself withthe nair green apple scented strips. u rub the strips on ur hands and the warmth melts the wax a lil and it works. its cheap and u do it urself.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
I am hairy all over..I even have hair on my knuckles...so I can relate. I usually bleach the hair near my sideburns. I use Jolene bleach and watch to make sure it turns the black hair brown and not too blond. I alsop use it on my arms because its super hairy. I wax my upper lip and eyebrows every week...its annoying to do all this....

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
i think entire face is about 1000$ for 6 treatments and 1 yr of follow ups after ur last treatment. and sometimes they run a special.. buy 1 body part get 1 free. so i was going to do my lower legs for 300$ more since legs were more $ than face so i pay the diff.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
wow thats cheaper then I thought, I am good with that price, I got quoted out in suffolk for 6 sessions full face was $4200. I was like um nooo... I will go back to queens. The girl who gave me my consultation at that place looked honestly about 12...
I yell at my sister every day that she can do makeup and airbrush and facials and waxing but she could laser me! I called her useless and she wasnt to happy lol! thank god were best friends.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
I looked into laser treatments several years ago..it was too expensive and the results aren't always permanent. When I was 15 I was teased a lot becuase of my hair (I look almost Indian with the dark facial hair) and started bleaching my hair then. You can buy a box of Jolene at any drug store...its only like 15 dollars and results last 6-8 weeks and sometimes longer. I use it on my face and arms every 3 months and can't live without that and my wax trips to the salon...

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
I wax and bleach. I have the sideburns but it's so light bleach is OK. My upper lip is light hair too, just a lot of it.
I just want to warn you youngins, as you age, the waxing makes skin elasticity weak. My upper lip is starting to wrinkle/discolor.
After the wedding, I will do laser. I just don't have the money now.
wait til you hit 40, you'll have chin hairs that grow back over night!!!!
Thanks for letting me know about threading...I was considering that!

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
I have had the laser around the face. It hurts, but such a difference!!
I bleach my arms, but I have very pale skin. I have seen others who are more tan where the hair bleaches blond and is still noticable because of the contrast
I use smooth touch on jericho turnpike, they start you high, then with each treatment the cost goes down, so I am now at 75 a treatment for the area. I went back in june after a 2 year hiatus

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
well Alyssa, im a beast.,.. and u will feel my chin and face tomorrow night cuz im going grizzly til my shower. i do not recommend threading the face. i broke out soooooooooo bad. (ill show u pix of that, too)
just wax at home.
threading for me lasts 3 days. waxing lasts about a day or 2.
i can pluck and have hair grow the same day. im not normal.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
Nair is good for your upper lip. I have sensative skin and it never has caused me to break out. For your arms and sideburns you should bleach it. Sally Hansen makes it. You can buy it in CVS.

OMG I thought it was just me with the chin hairs. I feel like I am plucking them every freakin day!!! i have been hairly all my life. I have embarrassing hair that has gotten worse as I have gotten older. I wax but try not to do it all too much because of the wrinkling.

I just laughed so hard I almost peed myself!!
I just started getting the occasionally wiry chin hair last year. Started out as only one, now I get three that come back like in a couple of days. I was like..***...the first time I saw them...gotta love turning 40!!
I wax my upper lip with Nad's strips. Sounds like the same kinda thing Barb uses. Just warm them between your hands. Usually get a couple of blemishes the next day.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
Same problem over here but it is a medical problem. I was diagnosed with PCOS so my hormones are all crazy. Which produces a lot of hair. So I was put on Birth control pills to regulate my hormones, which I was not crzay about being on, but believe it or not it has helped a lot. I used to have to wax sideburns, chin, lip, eyebrow...etc. Happy to say that I have not had to wax for about 2 months now, and the hair has not grown back. Not sure if anyone can relate or if this really helps or not, but worth a shot.

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
So this morning I went out and got the bleach and did my side burns and my arms. The side burns look pretty good, I am pale and they faded into my skin color it looks lol. My arms look silly! I think I have to much hair!
But the saddest thing is that on sunday my sister waxed my lip and chin and ITS back. I must be extra aged because I am in my 20's not my 40's!
Ugg soooo frustrating!

Re: Kind of Embarassing Question
Girls - a lot of women have this problem and I, too, had it when I was young. Thankfully my mom was very aware of the problem because she had it too. I had hair on my upper lip and the remedy we used is electrolisis. It takes about 6 months or so but the hair is removed permantly. I go back every once in a while to get rid of straglers.
