Kind of Feel Like not Such a Nice Girl...

A Bitc* actually... A few on my FHs friends that weren't invited to my shower, and one of my co-workers were kind of hinting that they were looking into buying me something off my registry for my wedding gift.. I AM grateful for anything that people want to give me, but how can I say this.. I was looking for gifts of the monetary value.. I feel like a total bitc* for even feeling like this.. To top it off.. I took down my registry so no one could buy my anything off it for my wedding...

Don't feel bad... EVERYBODY prefers & hopes for money gifts (we just can't tell people we feel that way)

i feel the same way, and i think most of us do - whether we want to admit it or not. at least you didn't tell your guests!!

Yeah, I know how you feel.

OTOH, I do want some of the stuff on my registry, and if we don't receive some of the things, we're probably going to go and buy it anyway. Like the flatware. I've never had a nice, matching set of flatware of my own. Just inexpensive stuff. I really want a set.

Like the saying goes 'cash is king!!!!!!!'

Sometimes people can't afford to give you the proper amount of cash for a wedding gift so they give a real gift off the registry. If you take your registry down bc you opt for the cash then if someone gives you $75.00 would you be OK with that? Also, if they don't find your registry then they may opt to get you a gift of thier 'own taste' and we all know how that can turn out.

Here is another suggestion. Instead of taking down your registry completely why don't you keep on or add on more expensive gifts and take off the less expensive ones.

With all that said- no your not being a biotch. Everyone hopes to get cash to somewhat compensate for the tremendous amount shelled out beforehand.

My aunt told me to tell everyone my favorite color was green and everyone should bring something 'green' to the wedding.

Ditto!! I am totally doing that!! Hey, what can I say... FH and I are buying a house 3 months before our wedding AND paying for the entire wedding and HM ourselves!! We need the cash!!
