Soooo...we went to our food tasting tn. Anddddd i am not really feeling the food :( idk what to do! i was SOooooooooooo excited about our hall until now. The venue is gorgeous and that is priceless dont get me wrong, BUT i feel like part of our justification for over-spending in the RH area was that the food promised to be really great. Now im torn. We havent paid our deposit yet so i know we can still technically walk away (we even dbl checked tn) but idk if im just overreacting!? i mean, dont get me wrong, the food was NOT bad, but it wasnt GREAT which i was rly hoping for...advice ladiess!?

Re: kinda bummed...
Where is your RH??
Did you let them know you were dissapointed?
Do you know if their main chef was on that night? sometimes their main chef is off and then it wont be as great as it could be..

im just bummed b/c i was expected it to be rly great, and instead it was average. maybe i set my standards too high in my mind? i think i have been justifying spending a lil more on the RH hall though banking on the food being GREAT not just decent...i wld def appreciate any of your ladies input! am i just being dramatic lol
perhaps early bridezilla-ness setting in? lol

Re: kinda bummed...
I would be bummed if the food wasnt what I thought it was gonna be as well.. its ALOT of money... I would definately express my concerns to the RH.
What did FH think.. was he disappointed too??
Was it all the food that you werent impressed with or something specific?

Re: kinda bummed...
People remember their experiences and use that to say whether the wedding was great or not. So, you want people to be happy. If you aren't happy with the food, then keep looking or at least think about it and go back for a tasting in a few months (telling them that you are on the fence about the food). We do have 2 years!!!!
Unless you have a June wedding or a SPECIFIC date in mind, then you have time.
You are def. not a bridezilla..... yet

If you were not happy with the food I woud think twice about booking. Especially if the price is more than you originally wanted to spend. There are so many place on Long Island that you should not settle (especially if it is not because of money)

Re: kinda bummed...
thanks girls...
it wasnt ALL the food, but i def wasnt happy w/ MOST of it...and the ones i did like are the kind of things i feel like you cant really mess up (e.g. chicken). i guess i feel like for a TASTING they would bring their A game! lol
FH liked it more than me but he wasnt like OMG either. my dad thought it was 'eh' and my mom said she really enjoyed most of it so its sort of a toss up. i think part of it is they chose really random dishes for the tasting - like a lot of asian-inspired (which i love but know we will do italian) and lobster w/ creme brulee (odd combo) so yea. LOL
i think we may have to keep an open mind now..i know we have LOADS of time lol but we rly thought we had settled on our place and that was it, you know! grrrrrrr i think i may do as you guys said though and express my concerns to them? thanks sooo much for the input i know my friends wld not care LESS lol

IDK, call me a beeyotch, but if the food is not blowing me away, I'm not booking! That's the biggest expense of the wedding and you have to love the food. There is no negotiating that. If we're spending upwards of $100 pp, at a minimum, the food better be the best or as close as possible, to the best I've ever had.

Re: kinda bummed...
We had the RH's narrowed down to 2 places and we went to food tastings to both and that is how we decided. Food is very impt to my family and I so I would reconsider if I were you. JMO.
There are so many places out there - you never know...

Honestly telling them you weren't happy with the food won't do anything. Even if they redo the tasting and it is great it doesn't mean anything. If all 4 of you didn't love it I would really think about looking elsewhere. You do not want to go into you wedding hoping the food is good

Re: kinda bummed...
I agree with the other girls on telling the place that you didn't like it.
I booked my place w/o a tasting, and I'm hoping that its all going to work out based on reputation. But if its even iffy I'll be dissappointed as well.
However, if the food was something you were using to justify an additional cost that would be a problem. I would take a little more time, maybe do a tasting at a few others then go back to the hall and tell them your thoughts and the price differences and maybe they will work with you rather than lose you.

Re: kinda bummed...
Personally, if the food isn't up to par i would look into going else where. i know that might be hard to do but if the food isnt great for the tasting, then think about how it would be when they are cooking it for 100 plus people. Food is a HUGE part of the package and it is a make or break deal for me. If you try a 're-tasting' they are most likely going to try and put the best of the best on the table just to make sure you book. (not to say that that doesnt happen at most tasting)In the end, you have to love it. likeing it isnt good enough.... you are spending a lot of money here and do you really want to settle for less then the best? Take a look at a few more places... do some tastings there... you might be surprised and get blown away elsewhere.
hope this helped a little bit!!!

Re: kinda bummed...
I dont think there is anything wrong with saying something... I mean you are paying a good amount of money, they should take your concerns into consideration. just be nice about it because they will be cooking your food on your wedding day!! HTH!!

I;d def say something to the RH. See of they can make you happy. If not, don ;t book there. The main reason I love land's End is the food.

Re: kinda bummed...
in all honesty, if i didnt like a places food i wouldnt book there..that is why i asked my RH if I could do the tasting early. You are paying so much money and food and the dj are the two things that are really remembered! I am always told, food with the old people, music with the young!
good luck, im sure itll work out!

Re: kinda bummed...
thanks soooooo much ladies!
after MUCH consideration, we are DEF looking elsewhere. it was a hard decision (b/c the venue is really GORGEOUS) but in the end we really dont think the food is up to par. we had a few other places in mind that we already visited, though, so hopefully within a few weeks it will be solidified again! i agree w/ you guys that for all that $ it better be GOOD! lol thanks again

Re: kinda bummed...
'10er crashing. I got married at the hall this past May. We went to 2 tastings before the wedding, and the first tasting we went to we were very happy with (a yr and a half before the wedding), while the second one (2 months before the wedding) was eh..ok. I have to admit, I was very disappointed with the second tasting and it made me nervous since the wedding was 2 months after it....but, it was too late to do anything at that point so I didn't worry about it. Honestly, the food at the wedding was AMAZING!!!!! A million times better than the tastings....and we received so many compliments from our our guests regarding the venue and the food.... I would recommend my hall in a heart beat and the food was phenominal - don't worry!!
