OMG I live in Woodstock which is 10 min away. Do not go I can not imagine going away there. I woiuld say to stay there and go to Woodstock or New Paltz or even the Catskills but there is nothing in Kingston. Its like Long Island but with mountains in the background. JMO. FM me if you have more ?'s.

Bonnie, Matt and I went to see a comedy show there a few years ago and stayed in Rhinebeck -- I thought Kingston was cute. Had breakfast at this adorable cafe, great food and a cute waiter to boot (but he didn't play for my team and I was with Matt anyhow ) and I think there were some cool bars. Not a TON to do but definitely enough to occupy yourself for a night / next morning.

There is a lot to do up there. I know New Paltz is not too far from Kingston- it's more in land but a nice little town. I suggest going to the Guilded Otter. A restuarant and brewery which is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Don't go to Kingston! I grew up minutes from there. Go to New Paltz......way cuter and lots more to do. Great hiking. Kingston is really horrible and boring.

You know how some malls have car sales in them sometimes? The Kingston mall has USED car sales. That says it all.

If u have an unlimited budget...go here:Mohonk .

If u can't afford to stay there, definitely worth going there for the day.

Thats in upstate, about 2 hours from the city. My family has a house a half an hour away from there. Kingston mostly a commercial/business area. Saugerties is a really cute town which is close to Kingston with bed and breakfasts, also the catskills, albany and the towns by hunter and bear mountain.

I wouldn't recommend Kingston...it's more like a small upstate city. I would agree with the others and say go to New Paltz. I went to college there and it's a great town. Lots of restaurants, hiking, local art and shops, etc. It has more of that small town/mainstreet feel. Again, if you can afford it, check out Mohonk, if not there are many B&B's.

I went to school in New Paltz and if you want to go to a cute town, thats the place to go. You can go up to Mohonk Mountain for the day and go hiking, you can drink awesome beer at the Gilded Otter, vineyars close by, there are a ton different restaurants and bars. It also has cute shops such as the Groovy Blueberry which sells all tye dye stuff. I would go after school lets out, the town can get pretty crowded at night with all those crazy college kids around.

I had a bunch of friends that lived in Kingston and honestly there really is nothing there, and some bad areas too. I would go to NP over Kingston anyday especially for a weekend getaway :)
