Did he tell you why he thinks they are better? Maybe because bigger tiles mean less tiles for him to lay?

Anyway, we have 13 X13 tiles in our kitchen and they work well for us and look nice too. I think it is just a matter of personal preference on the look you are going for.

Wow 20x20 tiles seems pretty big. Did they let you take a sample tile home with you? Some places let you and you can lay them on your floor to get somewhat of an idea.

20x20 is a huge tile & your kitchen sounds long & narrow..I think a smaller tile like 12x12 laid on a diagonal would make the space look wider.
You could go with 16 x 16 also.

We have 12 x 12 on the floors and it looks great. We use 18 x18 for our countertops and they were huge can't imagine 20 x 20, they seem much to big. I agree...less work for him.

Edited to Add;
We have an open floor plan and our Kitchen is attached to the family room and we laid them in the foyer and family room diagonal and then made a border out of the tile by the kitchen and then turned them square and we get so many complaints on the floor. Just telling you about it, because I don't know how your kitchen is laid out.

Too Big in my opinion. Sounds like tile for a commercial space like a restaurant or a salon.

Thats what I thought, I like the smaller detail of more tile but he said it would be less upkeep and less grout lines, I think the bigger would look better if my kitchen was wide in addition to being long.

Thanks girls
