kitten behavior

kitten behavior

Okay so my kitten is now 4 months old and he does this thing at night or when we're laying down together. He comes up to my arm and he starts pawing me with both of them (kind of like he's pressing on a pedal, but he alternates with each front paw. Kind of like he's fluffing a pillow almost). But he does it for like 10 minutes sometimes. Does that make sense? Oh and he often licks my arm at the same time.

What does this mean? Is it because he wasn't weened from his mother? Any ideas because i'm clueless.

Awww - that is actually a good thing!!

It is called 'kneading' and is a sign of trust and affection. Kittens knead against their moms bellies when they feed.

I love when my cats do it.

I do too sometimes. But not at 5am when i only have an hour or so more to sleep!!!

So thats really why they do it? I figured it was something along those lines...

How long does your cats do it for?

Our guy will go at it for a few minutes at a time on us but goes to town on his 'friend.' This is what we call the sheepskin that we bought for him. He gets all droopy eyed and purrs like crazy when he kneads that sheepskin!
