kitten/cat food question

okay i have no idea when to change Layla over to cat food. the bags say at about a year. well she turned a year last week. do i buy her cat food from now on?

i'm clueless, i never had a cat. i dont want to not give her the kitten food if she still needs it for her growing.

i know this is a stupid question, but i really have no idea.

help.

thanks!

Re: kitten/cat food question

You should probably ask your vet. It probably depends on the physical development of the cat. For instance, I have brother and sister kittens and the male is MUCH larger than the female. If your cat's age in years matches the age in actual development, you can go with the one year rule. But if the cat is smaller than he should be, you might want to wait a few more months.

Talk to your vet!!

Hmmm, I have actually been giving my boys adult food since before they turned one, now that I think about it. They are just fine!

okay i feel much better.. i'll just wait till she finishes up this bag and then buy the cat food. my babys growing up thats going to be so weird.

i talked to my neighbor (he's a vet) and apparently shes huge so i guess i dont have to really worry about the stunting her growth part or her being too small for her age. and to think, she was the runt of the litter.

WE HAVE TWO CATS. WE USE TO FEED THEM SCIENCE DIET WHEN THEY WERE KITTENS. NOW BEING 2, WE HAVE THEM EATING FANCY FEAST WET FOOD AND FRISKES DRY FOOD. YOU CAN CHANGE JUST WEED THEM OFF OF IT, DON'T JUST SWITCH THE FOOD. MIX IT IN WITH THE OLD FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS.
