We said that we were going to get them done elsewhere, and in turn have it shipped out of state go save money... is anyone else doing this?
Trying to decide if I should just get the alterations done there or if it's way too much (almost 600 flat fee).
Thoughts?

Hi! Not sure if this helps, but I got my alterations done elsewhere and spent about $500.
Good luck!

Re: Kleinfeld Brides...
i am debating it. but i am not having it shipped out of state either way bc i was nervous if the dress came in wrong or something then i do not want them to blame the UPS or whatever.
so i will have my dress come in and try it on in person there and then decide. unless i lose a ton of weight i prob wont have it done there bc i know it will almost fit me perfectly and i am not making any major changes (thus they are overpriced for what i need). If i was making major changes then i would def want them to do it! I know when i bought the dress i told them i prob wont want to commute back and forth and one of the main woman gave me a # of an alteration woman in uniondale.

so you will pick up your dress in CT and then take it back to Kleinfeld for alterations?
I am confused because they said that the gown will go to Kleinfeld for inspection and then they will ship it from there? But if they ship out of state to save money... ?

I think she meant she is doing alterations in conn as well. and although they inspect the dress before shipping it they will not claim any liability if something happens before you receive it.

This... Too much of a hassle/risk doing it any other way

Same here. I feel better about getting the alterations done there in case anything happens.... then they can take responsibility for it.

Re: Kleinfeld Brides...
so you guys are getting the dress shipped there? It was weird they made it seem like it was better to get it shipped out of state and to do the alterations somewhere else... maybe because they knew we were on a budget?

I'm doing it there, I just don't feel like bringing it elsewhere, and I'm sure the price is almost the same any other place as well.

I had my alterations done there. I just felt more comfortable that way.

They tell you to ship it anywhere but NY to help you save on the tax. However, it is completely up to you whether you get alterations done there. I know it is hefty, but I am just going to get them done there because I feel more comfortable. What I do know is that they will ship the gown to the address that you supply them with(notarized), and they ask you to NOT open the box so that nothing happens to it. Then you bring it to them.

We decided the same about shipping! Was too nervous about shipping it out-of-state and having something go wrong!!! My mom felt it was safer to spend the money on tax and pick it up! I'll do my alterations there... that way, if something goes wrong, it's not my fault!!!

i know it's expensive, but i'm having them do everything.. it's too much of a hassle for me to have the alterations done elsewhere.
