Sooo, Daniella at Kleinfelds has been SO helpful, she found the Tara Keely dress I've been searching for, and I have an appointment to try it on June 11th.
As long as it's as beautiful in person, I plan to purchase it. But, I'm wondering if alterations at Kleinfeld are extraordinarily high priced.
If anyone could tell me, either on this thread or through FM, what they are paying for alterations, I'd appreciate the help so much!!!

I believe its a flat rate of $700....and it is capped at that. I bought my dress last Aug and that was the rate then.

This is correct. And your right, it's insane. But here's my thinking on it. First, they have the best seamstresses that have excellent reputations so your dress will look amazing. Second, if you take it somewhere else and they screw it up, It then becomes your problem to fix, not the seamstresses. At least if something happens at klienfelds they are responsible to replace the dress god forbid something goes wrong. I know for me, I just feel more Comfortable doing it there even though it's so pricey

All I have to say about their seamstresses is that I have NEVER seen a seamstress do the work that the ladies do here. There were things they did to my sisters dress that I didn't even know you could or should do. I am telling you they will make your dress fit you like a glove. As if someone made this dress specifically for you... If you can afford the extra cost, make it happen!

Alterations were expensive... I believe I paid a flat fee of $595 (but this was in 2011 and prices may have gone up since then). It was easier to just do everything through them though & my seamstress Ellie was amazing!
Like someone else above said... I didn't feel comfortable taking my dress to an outside seamstress b/c if they messed my alterations up, I would basically be SOL.

I Paid over $400 not at Kleinfelds, so $700 seems reasonable.
