Any ladies go there to try on dresses? I am debating to go prior to their anniversary sale to see what styles they have and how their samples fit me so that i can decide if its worth it to take a day off to wait on line and get a discount dress. That being said, i have no intention of purchasing a dress...do you think that is a problem? I dont want them to be pushy or rude and of course will not go in telling them i dont want to purchase a dress. I am just wondering what kind of experienece you ladies had if you went looking there and did not purchase.

It was nice. The dressing rooms are very small and not impressive, but the sales person was very nice. I had already found my dress, but I wanted to see if kleinfelds had anything else I liked more, since they're supposed to be the biggest selection. They had nice dresses, but I didn't like anything more than the dress I already had in mind.

honestly i don't think they're any better than many of the other salons unless you want a crazy couture dress. their alterations are insane.
id skip it if you're not planning on buying a dress there.

Re: Kleinfelds
I thought they were rude and unhelpful. The woman wouldn't listen to me when I told her what I wanted and what kind of dresses fit and don't fit me. I know my body type. Plus they charge a flat, large amount for alterations. Pronovias didn't charge for alterations at all. Its built into the price of your dress. Most places charge based on what has to be done.
She also gave me a hard time when I left without purchasing.
They seemed so much more focused on brides who were going to be on the show.. I didn't even see the beautiful room with the three way mirrors and dresses everywhere, except to walk through it. Instead was ushered into a dressing room where I stayed until I left.
Some people on here had great experiences there though, might depend on who helps you.
What was so great about Kleinfelds was that it led me to Pronovias, while i was in the city I thought why not.

Hey I was just wondering...what do you mean their alterations are insane? ...Like the price? Or that the alterations are amazingly good?

i had a nice experience there. i was all set to buy a dress and at the last minute decided not to. they were nice about it and told me to come back after i thought about it. i ended up finding another dress elsewhere but i did fully intend to go back.

I had a great experience there. I went with no intention of buying anything. I brought some pictures of dresses I liked and told her exactly what my vision was. The first dress she brought out was the one! She was not pushy at all. She wanted me to try on all different styles just to make sure. She was very honest when she didn't like something. She also brought me a dress that was $1000 less than my max price range. I ended up leaving that day without buying but I came back a month later and bought my dress(actually, my mom did!). I think the alterations are $650.

Alterations are $650 or $699. I cant remember.
I had the best experience and cant say enough good things about them. My dress was dream. Keisha was amazing and I felt like they did the best for me and had the best in mind. It was a highlight of the wedding planning.
But as it goes for any other commision sale, I am against girls going JUST to have the 'Kleinfled Experiece', with NO intention to buy.
And what I mean is that you will be taking up an appointment where a consultant COULD have mae a sale.
I used to work on ONLY commision st Circuit City. If I didnt sell anything, I made no money.
This is the way they put food on their table, and a roof over their head. Im always VERY sensitive to taking up someone time where I wont be buying, and KNOW I wont be buying in a commision store. I will tell salespeople 'sorry im not buying today. I dont want you to wast time on me when you can make a sale with another customer'.
So IMHO if you have no intention of buying I would say dont go. If you think maybe if you find something better and MIGHT buy, then go.
But always take into consideration this is the way they put food on the table for their kids.

Insanely expensive. 600 is unreasonable when most other places cap at 300

wow alterations are extremely expensive! Here is the thing, i would purchase if i found the right dress at the right price. Right now i have a dress i like for $1500 but im not getting the 'wow'. I dont think i will get the wow factor but want to try and figure they are the best place to look since they have a large selection. If i see their sample size fits me decently and that they have some higher priced dresses that i like then i would consider going to their summer bowlout sale where the sample dresses start at $500 and i would buy then. so IMO i wouldnt be wasting their appt time. and i plan to go in with a pic and tell them this is the dress i am leaning towards and see if they can find me a better dress since it didnt really wow me. Ive prob tried on 75 dresses at this point and just dont know where else to look.
any ladies not get the 'wow' when they purchased their dress? I also didnt even get tears from my mom or anything which is why i still am searching.

Re: Kleinfelds
My cousin got her dress there & was just married this past may 29th. The only thing negative about them she said was #1 - the cost of the alterations & #2 - they actually screwed up her alterations & she alomst didnt have a dress for her wedding...she actually got it back the day before her wedding - I would have died.
In regards or a PP - I understand the whole commission thing, as Ive had previous jobs that were commission too...BUT...I HATE going into ANY store where I feel FORCED to buy something that I either dont love &/or cant afford. Just b/c you go to Kleinfelds I dont feel you should feel forced to buy something if you're not in love/ready or purchase or are shown dresses that are not in your financial range...JMHO

I totally understand the fact that the sales people work on a commision basis but its not fair to brides to feel like if we step in the store we HAVE to buy a dress. If you are just starting out your search for a dress you may have no idea of what you are looking for and you may need to try on a large number of dresses. With their rule of each appointment only being 1 1/2 hours that might be impossible for some. Very rarley does a bride buy their dress at the first place they go to.
With saying that you may go in there just to look and end up purchasing your dress. You may try on a dress and get 'the feeling' and purchase something. I would say go there with an open mind and take it all in.
