Does anyone know how to do this? I would love to learn. Or do you know if any one teaches this?

Re: Knitting
I can knit...and its really pretty easy to learn...the tough parts are the first row and the last row...and then making sure to count if you are doing different knits...
you may be able to pick it up from a book, but I bet that Michaels has a class on it...maybe even an adult ed in your district

Re: Knitting
I actually took a knitting class w/ my best friend through the town(Town of Huntington Rec dept). It was once a week for 8 weeks. Most towns offer them. I have to say- it was kind of hard and i got pretty frustrated w/ it. Never finished my blanket!

Re: Knitting
i love knitting and crocheting - but i'm much better at crocheting!! i find it so relaxing and it stops me from snacking at night in front of the TV
i think michael's has the best selection of books - i believe there is also a 'learning to knit' CD for the computer that's supposed to be really good!
good luck!!!

Re: Knitting
I would love to learn either. I will have to check it out! Sunny, if I don't get it, you will be getting a FM from me.
I used to always make the knot friendship bracelets back from the late 80's early 90's with the dmc floss. Remember those???

Re: Knitting
I loved making friendship bracelets. I was always making them!
I think knitting is much harder. I learned from a book, but it took me awhile to get the stitch down. I love crocheting. I just finished my first blanket doing a border. woohoo

Re: Knitting
I think crochteing is harder than knitting - but that might be becasue my mom taught me to knit but I tried learning crochting from a book.

Re: Knitting
I can do the very basic knit stitch and I do enjoy it when I make the time. There are a few place that teach it. I know Michael's has classes. It is a new craze too. Lot of stars are doing it and it is considered very chic!

Re: Knitting
I've done a lot of knitting and taken lots of classes, though not on LI - they were in the Boston area, or at a national knitting seminar, though these were all for more advanced knitters.
You might check your local knitting shop - many of them offer classes, or will assist you if you purchase the materials from them. They could also advise you of which book is best for beginners.
I know there is a nice shop in Garden City called Garden City Stitches. Knitter's Magazine has a website that has a search engine (click on the tab 'Athena') that will let you do a search for shops near you.
