I figured you'd be the best person to ask since you work in the industry. DH and I have never gone to a broadway show and were looking some up last night. As far as seating, is it better in the orchestra or mezzanine? Thanks much!

It depends. In the orchestra, you definitely do not want to be in the first few rows. It's almost like watching a movie in a movie theatre in the first couple of rows...your neck gets strained.
You also don't want to be too far back or too far on the sides; the hangover of the mezzanine could cause sightline issues, as could being too far on either side. So center of the orchestra is best, and on the sides of the orchestra, just avoid like the last four seats on the edges.
Mezzanine is great too - less issues with sightlines up there.
What are you thinking of seeing? I've seen a lot of shows and been in most of the Broadway theatres so I can probably help you with specifics!

Re: Kris
i know you didn't ask me but i'm going to give my answer anyhow
orchestra is def better which is why it's more expensive .... but front row is NOT great, IMO (sat front row for the last she i went to and i felt like i missed things because i didn't turn my head left or right fast enough)
that said, the mezzanine seats aren't bad either ... especially if you're at the front. To me, they're worth it because you still get to enjoy the show, and you get to save a bit of money too.

Au contraire...orchestra and mezzanine are usually the same price, with the exception of rear mezzanine

I prefer the front of the mezzanine to the orchestra. I find that I get a GREAT view of the stage. JMHO.

Re: Kris
I'm not Kris but I love Broadway and such so I'm going to throw in my two sense.
I love love love sitting first row Mezzanine! I will actually buy tickets for a show 100 years out just because they had first row Mezzanine available. I really feel like it's the best view, you can see the actors, the entire set... It's pretty awesome.

Re: Kris
I've seen 3 of those ....
Lion King is amazing and i loved the way they portrayed the animals but you already know the story so don't go for that.
Wicked is good but not my favorite play ever (i know i'm one of the few people who thinks that though) ... i like the way the story is told form the 'wicked witch's' perspective ... it's def interetsting and worth watching.
Addams Family was not great ... just saw that a couple of weeks ago. it was just ok, IMO. i didn't really love the story or the music. and there were a few scenes that i found extremely boring.
