Out of the clear blue I decide that I want to include Krisy Kreme donuts in our welcome baskets at the hotel. I know my FH's family loves them and cannot get them back home. So I called Krisy Kreme and asked how to get individually wrapped donuts. The women was super nice. She said that they box them in either 2-4-6 donut boxes (up to me) and the min. is 50 dozen plus a $100 delivery charge. Well thanks but I do not need 50 dozen. So she said she can make the min. 25 doz (300 donuts), box them in 2 and I would have 150 favor boxes. Also, instead of having them delivered for $100 I can have a Krisy Kreme truck waiting outside the reception site as the guests leave and they would be given their donut boxes on the way out.
My orginally idea was to have glass leaf jars of Vermont Maple Syrup. We are having a fall theme wedding so I thought it would be different and a nice idea.
But now I think the donuts would be really cute, but not sure if I like the idea as a favor or not. Any thoughts, comments, advise. Please be honest. I count of you gals to tell me what you really think. Is it cheesy?:

Re: ?: Krisy Kreme as a favor?long
i think the donuts are a cool idea, and since they are pretty new around here, they haven't been overdone yet. but, i dont think they should be in place of favors, i like to think of a favor as more of a momento to the wedding, once you eat the donuts they are gone! If you could do both I would, but if not id stick with the syrup bottles. I like those too and am also having a fall wedding. If I hadn't already made my favors (magnets) I would have gotten those. How many out of towner are you having, maybe it wouldn't be that much to just buy some donuts and put them in the welcome baskets, without trying to get a package? good luck! also, how much was the deal for the 25 dozen, aside from the $100 for the truck? thanks!

THATS A GREAT IDEA!! Very different. and everyone i have ever spoken to about krispy kremes said they love them.. MY FI calls them candy crack... when ever we go to the movies we always bring home a 1/2 dozen glazed... i say go for it, and if its either the krispy cremes or the favors i say go with the krispy kremes.. thats something for everyone.. i dont think the men at weddings like the favors anyway.

The donuts are $167 for 25 dozen. But add a $100 delivery charge and it is not to cheap. I am so-so on the truck outside, but think the idea is really cute. I am going to wait for the women to call me back on Monday with more info for me. I will keep you all up to date.
I'm a little iffy about the delvery truck outside as well...would they still be packaged? b/c leaving a wedding...the last thing I want to do is to eat more food... so if they are packaged - then the guests could bring them home...
Is there anyway that you could have someone pick them up for you that morning?

I think it is a cuteidea to offer them but I do not think I would offer them in place of favors. It is nice to have some sort of a keepsake from a wedding.

Re: ?: Krisy Kreme as a favor?
I think it's a cute idea. While I sort of agree that a favor should represent the day, I belive that getting sent home with the KK donuts will be remembered more. The best favor I had ever heard was from a wedding my sister went to 10 years ago where everyone received 2 bagels, creame cheese, a gourmet coffee sample and the NY Times on their way out the door. Who wouldn't love to leave a sat. night wedding with breakfast in their hand??? I didn't even go to this wedding and remember that. I couldn't tell you what or where any favor is from a wedding I actually went to.
THe truck outside can seem out of place but I think most people would get a kick out of it.

Maybe you could just pick up a few boxes and have the hotel hand them out to your guests as they check in. What a nice treat for people as they get out of their cars after a long trip.

Re: ?: Krisy Kreme as a favor?
I went to a bbq last night and one of the couples attended a wedding the night beore where the people who got married gave a box of 4 KK as favors. They absolutely loved the idea and must have mentioned it 3 times. The actually ate them on the way home from the wedding (or at least 2 of them). They thought it was the best idea. They said the couple had the band announce it at the end of the night to pick some up on your way out.
I think it is a cute idea. I loved favors that are usable esp. edible!
