KWR- The sterling (sweet 16)

Ok Girls, Just wanted to share my experience at the Sterling in Bethpage.
I was there Friday for a Sweet 16.
First Impression- When we pulled into the parking lot we were quite impressed with the grounds, everything was really clean, and there were several places outside to do pictures.

The lobby is gorgeous, in my opinion...

The room we were in was nice, a little outdated, but still really nice and spacious. The chairs were comfortable and the tables weren't on top of each other.

The cake was delicious and beautiful (as was the candle holder for her sweet 16 candles- which they supplied)

The food was mixed, the rice was cold and a little hard, but the beef stroganoff and chicken marsala were good- the eggplant parm- AMAZING (great, now I'm drooling).. I didn't try anything else, because I have allergies.

For the kids they offered these really cool colored drinks that everyone raved about. and for us adults- they do know how to mix a nice drink.

now the cons- When we first walked in there was nothing/noone telling us where to go. We accidentally walked into another sweet 16 (as EVERYONE else did) until we realized the colors were wrong.
But.. if you went outside for a minute someone was magically there to chase you around telling you no alcohol outside.
There was no coat check, I'm not sure if that was an option or not.. but as a smoker I didn't mind.

The staff at the buffet- there were three servers, thats it.. and they would just look at you until you held out a plate and said please... usually with buffet they ask 'would you like some xxxx'.

the bartender went missing a few times (well she stepped away from the bar)- we found her talking with people and dancing...

the party went out with a bang (in the face)- literally.

the other sweet 16 was timed from 7-11.. the party I attended was from 8-12. So 11:30ish comes around and here we are dancing on the floor when we see a group of about 8 (guys and girls) walk into the party, look around then go to the dance floor and dance.. the sweet sixteener asked 'who are you?' then said 'get out' I was standing close to her.... the girls flat out ignored her, the guys went to the bar. they danced. the birthday girl told her mom, who asked these people to leave, they refused, she then went searching high and low for a matre'd. in the meantime the dj announced the last dance, and said 'lets here it one last time for your birthday girl' we cheered- these people boo'd... seriously, they were sloppy, trashy, drunks with bad highlights.
well I go to the table to meet with FH, as soon as my coat was on and purse in hand we hear screaming and glasses breaking... one of the sneaky guys got into it with the birthday girls brother.. fists flew. the group then decided to go out to the lobby.. where police were already waiting- well out breaks another fight.
needless to say- 8 cop cars and two ambulances later (none of them used and there was no need for all the cops) the party was over and everyone went home.. but it was the talk of the night on facebook and at the meeting the following day.
