We are getting married on Labor Day this year, and when we first planned it, it didn't bother me because we are the only wedding that day at our venue so we could start anytime we wanted to and I really liked that idea and every Saturday that worked for us was booked. We wanted to get married on our anniversary date, but of course that was booked as well, so we have to choose something else. Then on top of that, my parents booked a cruise for the middle of September (the month we wanted to get married in) so we could really only pick weekends before that because I wanted my mom to be around beforehand. Now I keep feeling like people are going to be upset that it is on a Monday and they have work the next day. I know it sort of works like a Sunday, but people complain about Sundays as well. So I don't know what to think and now I am really regretting it. I never even looked into Friday nights, and I really wish I had done so now. :(
Just needed to vent a bit I guess...

I don't meant for this to sound harsh, but people will have to deal with it. I'm sure you were offered a great deal as well, which people will understand. They are coming to celebrate you as a couple, regardless of the date or time! They will have a great time and it will be a great day!
That being said, if you're still really regretting it, maybe call your RH and try to change it. Did you only just book it?
The only piece of advice I can offer is not to let anyone's reactions or feelings dictate your plans!

I agree with m&m..people can just deal with it. People will complain no matter what, so just go ahead and do what makes you and your FH happy

Re: Labor Day Wedding
I was like you in the beginning of my planning. I learned quickly that EVERYONE has an opinion and feels the need to share it for some reason. Do what makes you and your fh happy. If people say anything just say this is the date we picked and I hope you can make it! Change the subject quickly. If it really bothers you then maybe talk to your hall but only if it bothers you. Trust me people will come and have a great time!

Re: Labor Day Wedding
Don't be upset about what others will think. A lot of people do go away for labor day, so make sure u send out save the dates. If it is really bothering you that much call them and see if you can change the date. The lady there is very nice to work with. Good luck!

Re: Labor Day Wedding
Having a wedding during the week is not uncommon. In some religion they have their receptions on Wednesdays!
People need to learn to deal. The people who matter most to you will of course be there. I wouldn't stress - its your day!!!!
Edit.. when we were first looking someone told us 'don't do it during a holiday weekend.' Um, I didn't know it was your choice when we got married!! The date we picked worked best for us considering I can't take off work more than 4 days and we are on winter break.

do NOT change your date for other people!
I got married the friday before labor day, i was worried too...there were ppl who moaned and groaned, that they had to leave work early, or that they couldnt go away because of it, yada yada
if it works for you do it! anyone who chooses not to make it or complains doesnt deserve to come!!!

Re: Labor Day Wedding
I would worry about what anyone says.....it's your day and the people who care about you and want to share in your special day will be there regardless of the date!!!
Don't base your decision on what other people say/think, but if YOU would rather do it on a Friday, I would suggest calling your RH to see if there are any available Fridays before your parents go away.

Re: Labor Day Wedding
do what you want! we're getting married over Columbus Day weekend because we're both teachers and didn't want a summer wedding. people have voiced their opinions but i rarely listen to them

Re: Labor Day Wedding
I wouldn't worry about. You won't be able to make everyone 100% happy. At the end of the day, its YOUR DAY. I would just give them extra notice since it falls on a holiday. That is what we are doing. HTH!!

DO NOT change your date b/c you're worried about what other people think. you can't please everyone, but it's not about everyone else! It will be a great, and I'm sure that day it won't even be a thought in your mind

Wow, really?!! Someone else got married on a holiday?! Yay, I am not alone, haha! That actually makes me feel a lot better to be honest. I didn't think much of it at first until I heard a few random comments.
All you girls are so awesome. I don't know where I would be without this website, haha!
