Lactation Consultant Question

Lactation Consultant Question

I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy last week and feel like I am having a terrible time getting him to latch on. He ***** on his bottom lip so I think that is what is causing the nipple pain.

I would like to continue breastfeeding...but I don't want to get off to the wrong start.

Does anyone know how much a LC costs?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Lactation Consultant Question

Hiya, just wanted to mention that before hiring a lactation consultant, you may want to call a volunteer from La Leche League. They are super helpful and very knowledgeable. Certainly worth a try!

The Nassau page with phone numbers is: http://www.lllusa.org/NYE/Nassau/nassau.HTM

The Suffolk page with phone numbers is:

The 'Leaders' take phone calls from any mommies who are having trouble!

Re: Lactation Consultant Question

You need to get help asap...and remember that an LC is still cheaper than buying formula!
I used Dawn Frank...South Shore Lacation Consultant in Babylon. Her number is listed on Yahoo/Yellow pages under her company name. She is a wonderful, caring , professional LC. I paid $180 for the first appt and $80 for appts afterwards.
She is worth every single penny and I highly rec'd her.

Re: Lactation Consultant Question

I went to see a LC ((she was the ex wife of my boss, so I didn't have to pay, but she charged $175). All I needed was a different type of pillow, I was amazed at the difference it made. Also she taught me how to aim the lower portion of my areola down into the babies mouth from the top, to get a good position of her mouth on my nipple. I agree, it's very worth it -
