I have seen most ladies already booking photography and video, djs, and the whole thing even dresses!!! .... I haven't even thought of this is it bad??? It's just that I am soo busy with school. I will be going to the showcase that Fox Hollow is offering just to see some vendors etc. Also FH will be going to the showcase at our RH. Earlier today i got a call from David's Bridal telling me they have a photography package have any of you heard of this....are they good???? they are offering me a certificate for a vacation even if i don't book with them. I am just going to check them out. So what should i be doing?? So far i have my RH and Ceremony Site....what are the next 2 main things that I SHOULD HAVE OR ELSE...

I think band or deejay and photographer should be next. But that's just my opinion. I dont have anything booked as of right now -- other than RH

I don't think it is bad. I just want to book everything early that way i know how much things are going to cost and I can pay off as much stuff ASAP. Also I know some stuff tends to book up fast so I want to have a lot of options.

I know one of the photogs I called he said I am the third person to call about my date already!!!! And I am not even getting married in a common month. Things do tend to book up quickly.

i dont have anything besides the RH and church booked and i dont plan on doing anything else for a while...take a break, work as much as i can and make some money before i need to take time off from one of the who knows how many jobs i have to make appointments...
Dont worry, your not behind...If your getting married january 2010 then i say you should get on it now, but you have some time before you need to book things.

You do have time to book stuff, but a lot of people (myself included) booked this year to lock in 2008 rates. And like Rita mentioned, I really wanted to book the big stuff because I wanted to know upfront how much things would cost us so that we knew where to allocate our money. My advice is to just get an idea of what you want and do your research. Popular vendors do get booked early but at the same time, you have to go at your own pace. I know it can cause anxiety when you come on the boards and see other people with most of their weddings completely planned, but don't worry, you're not doing anything wrong!
ETA: I would be a little skeptical of the david's bridal photography package. definitely do your homework on that one. there are so many great photographers that girls rave about on here that have a lot of credibility. Be careful with those free vacations too..it's always a catch 22! The minute I put my name on anything wedding related, I swear I've won like 10 vacations so far! lol

we are booking now bc we want to know how much we are actually going to pay for our wedding...alsoooooo our wedding is in the beginning of 2010 so it's only about 1 yr, 5 months away...alsoooo my dress is being customized which will take longer (about 10 months)...alsooo valentines day books quicker...

First, the things about a vacation with Davids Bridal sounds a little fishy but worth checking out. You have time to book but a lot of girls book now to lock in 2008 prices. Once January 2009 hits, prices go up...and they go up dramatically!! So I would recommend getting the big vendors out of the way like dj/band and photographer.

dont worry i have done nothing but book the RH and after that i have done nothing else. dont worry we are in the same boat

A few reasons to book early:
1) You get this year's prices. Once 2009 hits, prices go up.
2) You ensure you get the vendor that you want. Good vendors can book dates far in advance.
3) It takes the stress off. One less thing to do.

I would look into photography next. Like you, I've only booked my RH and church. I did that back in Feb. I've waited a little while now I'm going to start looking at photographers, as well as DJs.
