Ok Ladies...I need ur opinion.... and I can take criticism well ...
I know that I am going to get my moms suit custom made for that day. And pay for her hair and get her shoes...just the works. Just a thank you for being my mom!
But do I have to do the same for FMIL
and what do I say when she asks about what I'm doing for her?

I think it really depends on your relationship with your FMIL. If you have a great relationship with her you might want to do something. Maybe just the hair. Maybe go to the salon wih her for a mani/pedi something like that.
IMO you don't absolutely HAVE to do anything for her and I'd find it a little rude if she even does ask. This being said, I also wouldn't make it 'public' what you are doing for your mother. It should be between the two of you.
Good luck!

Re: Ladies HELP!
Is your FMIL contributing towards your wedding as much as your mom? If your doing this is a gift for your mother to thank her for the wedding then you have every right to do it and not for FMIL, but if FMIL is helping out then you have to do something for her too, maybe not the works but something!

Thanks for the advice...but quite honestly I do not want to do anything with FMIL. No bonding at this point. Hopefully that will change as of right now I do not see it happening.

Re: Ladies HELP!
I don't think you have to do the same for FMIL. She's not your mother, and, if you're not that close to her, then don't!
I do, however, think you should do SOMETHING, even if it is a little something, in the hopes of maybe strengthening that bond....JMO.
And, if she ASKS you what you're doing for her..... that's just tacky. Also, I wouldn't broadcast what you're doing for your mom, then she'll have no idea you did all of that, and won't be mad or upset (not that she should be, I'm just saying....)
Good luck!

Re: Ladies HELP!
I am doing something special for my mom too. I don't know what it is. I don't think you are obligated to do the same, or anything, for FMIL...but maybe that depends on your relationship with her. My mom as been my mom for 26 years.....and will be for the rest of my life, ya know?? She has done a lot for me, so if I want to do something special for HER....there is a reason for it, and I think it would mean less if I went around and did it for everyone. Maybe FH can do something special for his mom??

Re: Ladies HELP!
i'm going to have my mom's make-up done. i think she'll really enjoy that. i wasn't planning on doing anything for FMIL - she's FH's step mother so it's kinda not the same. i love her to death, she's a wonderful woman i just wouldn't know what to do with her.
but in your situation - i think the mani/pedi thing if anything would be fine. ask your FH what his opinions are. you don't want to insult him by leaving her out ya know.

It depends on the relationship you have. I won't ony because its your mom. Mom has been there for you, your whole life. I won't even tell FMIL anything. But is just me.

Re: Ladies HELP!
You don't HAVE to do anything...
What I'd personally say if asked, 'what are you doing for me' is a simple, 'why don't you ask your son what he's doing for you'. She didn't carry you for 9 months...she carried him.. Defer to him and what he can do for her..
The way we're doing it is he handles his mom and I handle mine...I stopped taking his mom's calls - but she's crazy... It works for us!

I'd say thats up to your FH and it would be his responsiblity!

Re: Ladies HELP!
You should do a little something for FMIL. Of course your mom is gonna get something nice cuz shes your mom. Maybe you and FH can do something together for his mom.
