Ladies!!! I need help with my budget!

Hi ladies,

I am very new to this all and am a little anxious over the budget . If you dont mind sharing how much did you spend on the following venues:

-Photographer
-Flowers
-Videographer
-Music (DJ)
-Limo

Thanks sooo much in advance. I don't know what the 'norm' really is so it is hard to make up a budget when I have no idea where to begin.

Also, tips on quality (but INEXPENSIVE!!!) venues would be greatly appreciated!!! THANK YOU!!

Generally, they ( i do not know who they is lol) say whatever you spend on the hall, you will spend on the rest of the vendors...ex.. hall =20k another 20k on all other vendors...

as for quality venues that are well priced...i would say westbury manor for sure! they are BEYOND amazing! I would ask for Felicia or Natasha....Also, keep in mind if you do a friday, sat day, or sunday wedding it will be less expansive...an off month (some halls start oct as off season) nov-april...and of course a thursday night.

-Camelot was great with limo pricing.
-Pedestals for flowers (going with a low CP may help with price if you need)
-Kornfeld Studios for photog/video
-i am using FM entertainment for my engagement party-love them thus far!
-favors- Morgan's Bay Confections- just delish and AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Duval also had good pricing for photg/video (i just didnt 'click' with them) and a lot of girls love duet..

I hope this helps!

Good luck!

Re: Ladies!!! I need help with my budget!

What helped me was deciding how much you are willing to spend on your wedding. Since FH and I are paying for this wedding with very little help from our parents, we decided on a moderate budget starting with setting a max price for the RH.

If you can get a RH for less than what your max is you can spend more on whatever you think is more important and try to save on whats not so important to you.

What helped me get ideas of prices was going to bridal showcases, esp at different RHs. The vendors are always willing to give you prices there and sometimes vendors will give you discounts for attending the bridal show.

I haven't really looked into any other vendors besides the RH.

GOOD LUCK PLANNING!!! WE ARE HERE TO HELP!!

Welcome to LIW!!!

I'm not exactly sure how much of a help I will be because I don't have anything booked yet (not even reception hall). But what I did was try to make an estimate on how much we would spend just by talking to family members/friends who are married and trying to estimate how much we would be spending as well. I also looked at quotes on LIW for what other people spent on different vendors. I know that it's not going to be exact, but that is what I did to get a rough estimate of what our wedding will cost.

I'm not exactly sure what you consider inexpensive, but I LOVED Old Field Club and de Seversky Center. We are probably going to book with Old Field Club because their price is a little more what we are looking to spend.

FM me with any questions!

Re: Ladies!!! I need help with my budget!

i know what you mean... i am lucky enought that my parents are paying for the RH but i dont want to over pay for vendors....

we will be looking at Limos and Flowers soon... so if you get any info on those... let me know!

good luck!

also think abt having an e-party - we had one last weekend at an American Legion Hall for abt 100 people and it cost us under 5000 and we got close to 8000 in gifts!!

Re: Ladies!!! I need help with my budget!

This is my budget breakdown I was given by my friend/bridesmaid/wedding planner:

Attire 5-12%
Cake 2-3%
Ceremony 6-10%
Entertainment 3-10%
Flowers 5-15%
Invitations 2-5%
Reception 35-55%
Photography/Video 7-13%
Transportation 2%
Rings 7-15%

We have the same $30,000 budget (paying for it ourselves) and ended up booking with Danfords. We also looked at Brentwood Country Club, Mediteranean Manor, the Thatched Cottage. We looked at about 15 places and all included the cake.
