OK, so I always wanted to have a summer wedding and dreamed of the ceremony outside... The hall (temple) that we picked doesn't really have outside grounds but they do have a huge lawn on the side of the building. However, the lawn is not gated and there is nothing separating it from the street (sidewalk, road)...
So....
I went to a few florists and because of that alone myprice jumps through the roof! In order to cover it, they say they will need synthetic trees or some sort of gates that will still require flowers on them in order to cover the lawn from the street...
I am trying to think of cheaper alternatives but am out of ideas... Please, all of you creative ladies, please give me some ideas, maybe some of you have seen something similar done before...

I dont think I understand what you are looking for...are you trying to close off the ceremony area from the sidewalk/street?

Rent some large potted plants and line them up side by side to separate the sidewalk from the RH

What if you bought a bunch of those chinese/japanese folding screens? Not sure how sturdy they are, if the day is windy, but maybe you can somehow anchor them. I bought one for my apartment for only $60.

Do you have someone a little crafty you know? You can make a beautiful Chuppa out of chiffon fabric which you can buy in wholesale bolts online or in the city. YOu would just need to build an easy frame out of wood pieces, I woudl spray them white. Make a square frame with larger 'stakes' coming down int a pretty bucket or planter. Then just drape everythign with teh chiffon fabric. Your florist should be able to do this and it should be A LOT cheaper than flowers. Also, it will look gorgeous outdoors with a light breeze! Go classic and so it all in white or be bold and use your wedding colors so your white dress 'POPS' in front. Here is a picture with the same idea. HTH!

This is a good idea...but your florist will probably charge alot for the trees.

If you dont want to do a tent, another option is to ask your florist to rent white dividers and place them all the way down the lawn along the sidewalk , and then adorn them with drapes/fabric or cream colored roses, or w/e color your theme is:
