Ladies I need your help about RH's

Hi everyone,

Okay, I need your honest opinion on this. FI and I want to go look at RH's over Thanksgiving break because I've been telling him about a few places and we want to see what they look like in real life and he's really excited to see some of them. So I go to call one of them just now to start making appts. and all of a sudden I hang up the phone and I get nervous. I have this nagging voice in my head that has been planted there by a few people saying 'It's too soon, you have so much time, so much can change in 3 years' so I start thinking what if they're right, should we really be looking now, etc. I feel like I can't enjoy my wedding planning because the date is so far away. And everyone is telling me to just enjoy being engaged and I am but how can I not help myself from wanting to look?

Okay, so here is my dilemma: Do I say the heck with it and just call all the places I want to see and make appts. so FI and I can have a nice day together and just see our options and basically do what we want?.....OR.....Do I listen to the nagging voice in my head and just put it off until whenever and continue to just look on the internet?

Any opinions you could give me would be extremely helpful and I'd be most grateful!! TIA!!!

ETA: Okay maybe this really isn't about RH's per se but I still need help!

I say look. Look the heck out of those halls. Don't book or sign but look. Looking never hurt and gosh its fun!

i think its good to look early--- you may absolutely fall in love with a place and end up saving a bundle if you book early---

make yourselves a promise that you wont jump into signing a contract anywhere yet-- but definitely go look!! It is soooooooooo much fun!!!

I say go ahead and look - just don't book, yet. If you absolutely fall in love with a place, still take some time to look around at some other places before booking.

No harm in looking and it will be fun! Don't mention that you DON'T want to book yet because they may not take you seriously, but quite honestly I would NOT put any money down or sign anything now.

Look and get an idea of what you like and how you envision your wedding. Then later on you can revisit your favorites and some new ones and book (maybe mid-late 2007). JMO

I absolutely agree with these ladies!!! LOOK!! It's fun to think about your wedding day with your FH and get an idea of what you do/don't want. I wouldn't sign anything just yet, but if you really love a place it's a good idea to book early and lock in this year's prices (they may go up next year).

But don't look at too many halls in one day. Pace yourself or it won't be fun for you or FH!!

I would definitley look and get some ideas. If I had known then what I know now, I definitley would have done that, picked the more expensive venue I wanted and started saving way back then. Plus, when you decide it's time to book, you'll have the venue locked into the quote they gave you now. I would hold off though on booking until later though.

I honestly think you should do some research prior to look.

Size of your wedding, style, location (water, etc..)

That will help you save you and your FH to waste your time.

I say wait till your two year mark and then go crazy. Right now..enjoy the holidays and plan a trip or an engagement party. My engagement will be 11 months long and I have gotten so much done already and I'm starting to feel the planning slowing down because once you book all the big vendors there isn't much to do for a while. So my advice is to relax and occasionally do some research.

I would look. It is a lot of fun and you can really get an idea of what you are looking for now.

I'm in the same boat as you... I've already looked at about 20 places and have a small list of places that we're considering but I keep changing my mind about actually booking a place. Part of me wants to because I hear I'll lock in a lower price, and it will actually be easier for us to save money if we have a definate commitment somewhere. Money just hanging around in my savings account can be very tempting, lol. Then I think that we have plenty of time and a lot can happen in 21/2-3 years. What if god forbid we break up or are in a bad financial situation or find someplace we like better. So one day I feel like I want to book and another day I feel like I want to wait... ARRGGGHHH, I don't know what to do

look till you drop. better to have all the info now than later. dont worry about it being too early. what if you have to move up the date for whatever reason? you never know. my wedding is in may and i only looked at 5 halls partly because i absolutely loved my hall but also because we needed to make a decision asap. enjoy looking with no pressure. i imagine it'll be great!!!
