Ladies I really need to chat with you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First let me know if I'm making a mistake by making an appointment to do my hair the day of wedding at the salon for 80 cheaper than having it done by my vendor who was going to do my hair and make-up. I hired Mia to do it but I'm not going to come up with the money in time. It drives me crazy.

Second, It's so sad I have to take a cash advance out on my credit card to pay for the videographer because I don't have any money to pay them. AAAHHHH! I want to cry because I never planned one in my budget and I really want one know and it's just scaring me. Should I do that or is there another way I can get the money. Family can't help with the money either.

I don't think you're making a mistake going to the salon. It's normal to go to a salon on your wedding day. A lot of people do that. It's a lot cheaper than someone coming to you.

I would take the advance on the credit card to pay for the video. Then, as soon as you get monetary gifts from your wedding, take that amount and pay it off right away. (open up those envelopes and set that money to the side!)

Most want payment right before, or that day.

You can maybe speak to them and ask if they can wait till the day of.

All the vendors are different. Most want payment before you pick up the final product. or, leave a small balance upon pick up-like $100

For the videographer - contact them, you shouldn't have to pay 100% before the final product. You might have to pay 75% or less, and then pay the remaining amount after you've received your video edited.

As far as Mia goes - how about you contact her and see what you can do and what she can do for you. I'm sure you placed a deposit, so I'm sure you wouldn't want to lose that right?

Saving money by having your hair done at a salon is by no means a mistake. We all make sacrifices for our weddings, and going to a salon is not a sacrifice, just a minor inconvenience.

As for the videographer - we didn't budget for it either, and then wound up hiring someone that costs an arm and a leg.

If you have a home, try a small home equity loan, or just try for a personal loan at the bank before you take the cash advance on your credit card for two reasons - first and most important, the interest rate will be much lower, and second, you will need your CC on your honeymoon, and you don't want your available balance lower than absolutely necessary while on vacation.

Finally, I agree with the other girls that said you should take any cash gifts you receive at the wedding and immediately put aside whatever $$ you borrowed to pay it off IMMEDIATELY!!!

I've been collecting and returning soda bottles for a year to save extra money to pay for this wedding, so I know where you're coming from.

A lot of people go to the salon the morning of their wedding, absolutely nothing wrong with that. You do what you can afford it makes no sense to go into debt for one day....IMO

I booked mia also and one of the main reason is convenience.

I am getting married at 12:30pm. The photographer is coming at 10:30pm. I live about 30 minutes from my hall.

I don't want the stress to run around town to do my hair at one place and the make-up somewhere else.

I have a very small budget but this is one thing I did not want to worry about.

I would have done differently if my ceremony was in the late afternoon. Then I probably would have had time to go to the salon.

Please don't quote me on this but.....when I first contacted Mia, I mentioned that I loved her work but her prices were a bit high for me. She offered me a great deal. Maybe you could talk with her and be honest about your situation. It doesn't hurt, right?

Go to the salon on your wedding day only if it is a salon you have been to before and know how they operate. Or, try to be the first appointment of the day. Most places will make sure that a bride gets in and out. But my regular salon is often so crazy and I got scared and I decided not to chance it on my wedding day.

I agree with calling Mia - I did that with one of my vendors, I hadn't booked anyone and I just said 'This is what I can pay' - they kept telling me their price and I kept saying, 'i like your work but I can't pay it, this is ALL i can pay...' He lowered his price AND is allowing me to pay the balance AFTER the wedding. Most of the vendors WILL work with you!

Did you ask the videographer if he'll accept a credit card payment? Some of them will.

If you have to take a cash advance, just make it the first thing you pay off after the wedding.

Going to the salon is a good move. Believe me, I can relate, FH & I after saving for a year, realized there was no way we'd be able to come up w/ what was needed by this week, so we too did a large cash advance from our credit card. It's not an ideal situation & we wish we didn't have to, but sometimes there are no other options.

I'm going to the salon the day of my wedding. I saw what happened at my friends wedding when the lady came to the house, it was complete crazyness.

About the photographer..see if you can pay him the day of the wedding
