Ladies... I've had my first breakdown!

How do people pay for these things?!?!?! It all started when I got a ton of bills in the mail that it truly hit me... how are we going to pay for a wedding! Of course my parents are going to help out as much as they can... as for his parents, we're still not sure. Any tips... PLEASE!!

get used to ramen noodles and candlelight.

Seriously, you just have to make major cuts everywhere. Reevaluate your lifestyles and see where you two can make some room. Second jobs (while an unpleasant thought) could help a lot.

Shop for bargains, and negotiate all you can!

I think you need to go over your financials right now... before you book any more vendors, buy any more wedding related items. how much do you have in savings... how much can you take out of future paychecks to pay for the wedding. And find out much the parents will be contributing. This will tell you how much your budget is. Make sure your fh is part of this... especially if he's paying for the wedding too.

Try to keep your future vendors in your budget and cut back when you can.

Of course... if you can, you can alter your lifestyle a bit... maybe eat out less, less or no shopping... it all depends on what you're willing to do. With us, I know my hubby would never be willing to ealter his lifestyle for the stack of the wedding, so we planned around our savings and parental contribution.

You may laugh..but the dollar store is a gem when it comes to weddings and parties. You can honestly save money on weekly shopping at some of them. I get all my foil, saran wrap and throw away pans there.

All of those tips are awesome. Funny thing is though, that I haven't booked a single thing yet... I've only been engaged for a few weeks now and we have a very rough (extremely rough) estimate of what our budget will be looking like. It all just hit me all at once how massive of an expense this is going to be. Granted it's all totally worth it, it's very overwhelming. I really appreciate the tips!

I'm newly engaged also (since April 19th) and the first thing we did was set a budget. We've only booked our hall and photographer so far. And we've discussed what we need and don't need. For instance, I plan on doing a lot of DIY projects and possibly not getting limo's, since our ceremony and reception are both at the hall. Good luck with all your planning!!

I may have a lot of time, and usually I'm not a worrier like this but it's never too soon to ask for tips and to really try and wrap your mind around paying for it all....

I hear you sweetie, FH and I are wondering the same thing with 108 days remaining. Just take things in strides and everything will work out for the best.

Well here is what we did (BTW by the time we get married we will have been engaged for almost 2 years), We estimated the complete cost of the wedding and divided it by the number of paychecks until that time and he and I put a certain amount of money in 'the wedding fund' everytime we get paid regardless of whatever is going on that pay period or month. No excuses. It is really adding up. We are fortunate enough that both our parents are pitching in but we have to pay for a lot of it ourselves.

I feel your pain about the other bills. What I do, if need be, I pay less on my bills and make sure I throw down that certain amount into the wedding fund each pay period. Our goal is to have no wedding debt when the day comes and then all the gifts we recieve, we will be ahead of the game.

Good Luck

That is such an amazing idea. We'll be engaged a little over 2 years by the time we get hitched. I think that sounds like the most logical idea. Thanks so much for that advice!
