FI and I had our hearts set on going to Italy for 2 weeks, but now that we're being more realistic, we realize that we just can't afford it with the expense of the wedding. Plus the value of the dollar against the euro makes it even more expensive.
Now, we're searching for another option. While I'd be perfectly content to lie on the beach and do other relaxing things, my FI is not much of a fan of said activities. He wants to be able to explore and see old things. Anyone have any ideas that aren't too expensive? Thanks!

Caribbean cruises are wonderful and more affordable. Princess and Royal Caribbean offer great cruises.

Prague? Not the usual honeymoon spot, but you could explore old things and it is very reasonable.
What about going to Italy for a shorter time period?

Re: Ladies, need your help please... honeymoon ideas
We just returned from our 16 day honeymoon in December. We spent $5500. and only spent $500 of our own money including souveniers. We booked our Honeymoon through Liberty travel and it was Awesome!! We spent 6 days in Aruba and we stayed at the Renaissance and used the All-Inclusive pkg. Then we flew to Puerto Rico and spent 2 days at The Water Club. (It was either P.R. or Miami for a cruise-PR was cheaper) Then we took a taxi downtown and hopped on a cruise for 7 more days. Royal Carribean-Serenade of the Seas. (Everything incl. except drinks on the cruise) This honeymoon was long enough to enjoy everything and not get tired of the same place. We just figured we'll probably never get the chance to do something like this again so we did a lot. All-inclusive is the way to go I think if you're on a budget. Good Luck!

Thanks for the great ideas. We're currently tossing around thoughts on a cruise to Alaska with a few days in Seattle, or possibly a trip to Mexico where we can check out the ruins. Joe just isn't really into the islands, which is a bummer for me b/c that's exactly where I'd like to go! Plus, he's been to Aruba before. He's a huge history buff. He also said possibly Hawaii. Ugh, any other suggestions?

A cruise would definitely be a good idea. You won't spend any money on food and you have the option of laying around and doing nothing or going out exploring. San Juan has old forts to explore that are fun to see.

I have never been, but DH loves Aruba! A cruise is always a good option too. We spent our HM in Maui and Kauai and HIGHLY recommend either/or. It was true paradise!

I agree with the Prague suggestion, they aren't on the Euro. It is a beautiful city with a lot of history. DH and I were there in September and we really enjoyed it. We just returned from Lisbon which was also nice and fairly cheap plus the country of Portgual is supposed to be beautiful.
ETA - Have you thought about Latin America. Buenos Aires is a beautiful city and very cheap. Also, in the south of Argentina they have glaciers and trips to the south pole. There is also Peru which has a lot of history as well.
