Let me give you a little info about us.
We have been dating for 6 years and we have lived together for about 5 years. In 2008 we took in my FH's 10 year old nephew to live with us. His mother was not able to care for him for personal reasons. It was an an incredible experience since at the time we were not engaged. We both work full time and were full time 'parents' as well. It was a long rocky road but it was the most amazing experience I have ever had in my entire life. He stayed with us for two years where we took him to school ,enrolled him in basketball, camp, after school. We did projects with him and homework and disciplined him. When he cried bc he didn't understand we comforted him. We took him on his first ferry ride and made him truelly believe there is a real Santa. He made us stronger as a couple and as people. He was such a sweet boy and my heart breaks for him. He is currently living with his mother. My FH and I did so much for the is little boy and really made those two years of his life the best! He always wanted to spend time with me and called me his aunt. One mothers day his class made a cookbook and instead of giving it to his mother he gave it to me. Still till this day I tear up at the thought. I was not ready to take care of a child but we did a selfless act of kindness not asking for anything in return. We have been through some tough times but always struggled through it together. I feel that this little boy was brought into my life for reasons i did not understand at the time but now i do.
