Ive been holding on posting this...usually I dont post personal or emotional stories but Rich and I are in need of prayers.
The Thursday before my wedding day Leo was taken to the vet because of a funny walk he was doing. Fast forward to. yesterday.
Yesterday our little kitten Leo passed away. He was diagnosed with a terrible disease known as FIP.. FIP is a mutation of the coronavirus. A lot of cats are exposed to the corona virus but are able to survive with no symptoms whats so ever; however if a mutation happens that is known as FIP. FIP has a 100% fatality. Im not going to go in a lot of detail but Leo, at 8 months was suffering and BAD. There are no cures or direct tests to test cats, but those minor tests that they do have pretty much determine if the cat has FIP (with about a 80% certainty rate ) the reason I am posting this however is to let you ladies know ansd become aware especially those with cats about this horrible virus. I wouldnt wish this on ANY living thing.
Rich and I are devastated to say the least. We ask you to please pray for Leo and for our family. For the short time we had Leo I know he got the BEST life any cat could ever have. We treated him like our baby and in fact he WAS our baby.
Thank you ladies for your constant support and espcially during thsi time.... Its tough but I know that God only gives us whatever we can handle (not sure how well im handling this but we are trying rerallyyyy hard) and that everything in this world happens for a reason
God bless you all and your pets

OMG!! That is horrible...I am so sorry for you sweetie...some hugs and prayers
We just lost my cat of 14 years, Mouse, in April, and I still cry...we have two lovely kittens, but they don't replace her...Like your kitten, she got sick out of no where!
Mourn for your baby, keep him in your memory, and if you want and you are ready, FM me, because I have some great people I worked with that are looking for people to adopt kittens...it is a good deed and an honor to your kities's memory to save another kitty from a harsh life, especially because you sound like great kitty parents!

Re: Ladies unfortunately I have some bad news
Athena, I am SO SORRY for your and your DH's loss! I know all too well what you are going through - our almost 8 year old cocker spaniel Coco passed away just a few days ago - this past Monday - of cancer. It's so unbelievably sad, especially devastating for my FH who had Coco from just a few weeks old.
My heart really goes out to you! Many hugs and prayers.

Re: Ladies unfortunately I have some bad news
I'm so sorry! That must have been very difficult for you. Poor little kitten.
I knew about FIP as a friend's cat, Earl Grey, died of it a few years ago. He was also only a kitten, poor thing.
I'm so sorry that you lost your Leo It's so hard to lose a pet. I've been there so many times.
The information you posted is acurate. There is a snap test that can be done with a drop or two of blood. There is also a vaccine that can be given. It's drops in the nose. The cat can get it through the mother at birth. It is highly contageous and can be transmitted through blood, saliva, and even a scratch from an infected cat. The vaccines for a cat that should be given is Felv/ Fiv, Fip, and Rabies. You should also get the stool tested for intestinal parasites.
Pets, not just cats but dogs too, suffer from the same diseases that people get and most times are treated with the same drugs. Your pet can get heart disease, diabetes, leukemia, kidney failure, cancers. But the FIV and FIP are species specific so your dog couldn't get it. They would have thier own 'form' of the disease.
I'm sorry to use your post as an add on but knowledge is power.
Again Athee I am so sorry for your loss It's such a difficult thing to go through.
