ladies who get foils highlights...recommend your colorist!

ladies who get foils highlights...recommend your colorist!

So I alternate between 2 salons, however, they are both a 5 hour drive away. LOL. I ahve gone to many salons in NYC and LI in the 8 years I have lived here, but non of them do a very good job. Some of them do an alraight job, but I ahve yet to find a place that does the foils as well as my regular salon. I have even gone to some very pricey places in the city that are supposedly the best and wasn't happy. When the people do my highlights in Maine, they do 2-3 colors and blend them very well so I dont have to get highlights done again for like 4 months. I always ask for this when i go somewhere here, but have yet to find someone to agree with me. They always say it isn't neccesary. And I always tell them I never get around to having my hair done again for 3.5-4 months. And its always the same. They always tell me how they are a colorist and that my hair only needs one color and it wont grow out sper fast. Well they are always wrong. this has happened at probably 8-10 salons in NY. Does anyone have a place in LI or the city where they think I could get someone to do what I want and do a good job? I dont even care about the cost at this point, but if you could also post what you spend for color that would be great!!! Also, Im tired of places that want to charge me to dry my hair when I get just color. I think thats insane and unprofessional! LOL. So if anyone knows a place I might be happy with, I'd appreciate it!

Sorry this was so long!

I am in search of a good colorist as well - it's hard to find. I agree with the drying of you're own hair. You spend $200+ and they can't even blow dry your hair!

I can recommend Maximus in the Source Shopping Center, Westbury, I had my highlights done there and they were very good - Jessica (pricey) and also I've been getting it highlighted at Joseph Christopher Salon in Long Beach by Dani, loved the highlights she did a few weeks ago wasn't too bad around 140, i thought it might be more, but i added a 25.00 protein wash!

i actually had spoken to Denise about wedding hair. She was really nice! I ended up using a friend of DHs mom, but had seriously considered Denise. Do you know what she charges for highlights? Does she cut well also?

I go to a girl at Le Salon on Hillside Avenue in Mineola/ Williston Park. Her name is Emily and she is AWESOME at color and highlights. She is ALWAYS consistent which is something I can't say for anywhere else i've ever gone. Emily has been highlighting my hair for about 2 years now.

I told the people I use in Maine this and they were shocked! They told me that you cant really see how well the color came out till the ahir is dry. And that as an artists they should want to see the outcome of their own work. So now anyone that wont dry my hair for just color has me worried about the quality of their work. Im also super anal and obsessed with my hair.

I did Maximus awhile ago and they did a nice job, but the colorist wouldnt do two colors for me- she said it was unneccesary- but it wasn't. But the color did look good for a couple months, but it grew out faster than normal. I ahve considered going back.

I live in LB and have always wondered about the Joseph Christopher salon. maybe Ill give it a try...

thx!

Denise charges about 120, I think and like 50 for a haircut.
She does both! She is amazing and super sweet and the salon is brand new and very nice!

I use Alli at Salon Entourage in Syosset. My highlights come out awesome and I usually don't see regrowth until about 6 months.

My best friend's mom has been going to her for like 10 years, and then my friend started about a year ago, and as soon as I saw my friend's hair, I switched! I loooove her! And that reminds, me that I totally need to make an appointment lol
