Ladies who have been to Greece, quick question

I have been searching online for this answer and can't find anything concrete. Are shops and sites closed on Sundays in Athens? Right now, we are planning to spend the entire day in Athens on Sunday. But if everything is closed, we might as well fly back home on Sunday. Any advice from people who've been to Athens?

I was there and I actually don't remember... my best friend is from Athens I'll ask her...but i do know everyday they are closed from 2-5pm for siesta

Any advice your friend could give me would be great. We are ready to book our return flight but we need to know whether we should return Sunday or Monday. Thanks!!

Ive been to Athens, Greece and its true that most shops are closed on Sundays. God forbid you are sick you cannot find one pharmacy open (that happened to me). But in the heart of Athens you will find stores that are opened in the morning, then they close in the afternoon then they reopen again in the evening. All tourist locations are opened on Sunday. But its kinda impossible to stay in Athens all day then leave the same day. Flights leave in the morning. HTH!

ckleinismine - thanks! This really helps. Sunday is the only day we have to see Athens and it's great that things are open. So I guess we'll head back home on Monday then!
