We are going there in August. There is a theme park there. I think its called Great Escapes, there is horseback riding, boat rides, lots of shopping.
There is a fortthat you can go visit. Fort Ticonderoga.
I sent away for brochures.

Enzo use to go every year when growing up to Lake George, he is always talking about what a great time they use to have. He says that when we have a family he wants to go a take a long weekend trip to Lake George. I would go for it.

Re: Lake George??

Karina we went for Memorial Day weekend. Although it was crappy in weather we had a good time.

There is ALOT to do for all ages.
Arcades, bowling, boating (rent them), canoeing, rafting, renting these small buggy type cars, Great Escape is in the next town over. There is an AMAZING ice cream place as soon as you pass Great Escape. They have the BEST French vanilla fraps and Vanilla ice cream cones.
There is a drive-in a little bit past the ice cream shop on the right hand side. $6 for 2 movies per person. We saw the last part of Matrix and X-Men2. We didn't know. If we did we would have gotten there earlier to see both. Ice cream shop is called Martha's something. Plan on waiting at least 20 minutes in line for your ice cream. SOOO worth it!!
You can also go hiking, camping (FH didn't want to though), walk on Canada Street (Lake george strip).
Places to Eat: Christie's on the Lake: overlooks the lake boardwalk and they have 15 cent shrimps and clams!
Siciliana Trattoria: found to be the best place for the right price.
The mexican place Garcia something is good too, so I heard.
Carl got a slice at the Giuseppe's pizzeria and was very dissatisfied with it.

We stayed at Whispering Pines cottages a block away from the strip and in the village itself. Very cabin like. Very countryish.
I would recommend.Right on the corner of Canada st. and the street off of where Whispering Pines is is Zacharys and D.J.s. Good: place to go for happy hour. They close pretty late around 4 am I think.

Forgot to add there are 2 outlets but small. These are right on Route 9 past Great Escapes or right before it. I can't remember.
Route 9 is the main road. When you are in the Village of Lake George it becomes Canada Street.
There is also a beach area towards the end of Lake George itself by Lake George State Park. Pretty big. We didn't even go since it was closed due to weather.

Re: Lake George??

I was there a couple of years ago and it seems to be a perfect place for family vacation. And like Wanda said, there's tons of things to do.

Don't forget to check out A&W for burgers and ice-cream, the kids will love it..they are near the Ft. William Henry Motel and just behind mini-golf

Wow looks like everyone summed it up. Suzanne is also a 'regular' of St George (but shes enjoying her honeymoon right now!)
We went last week (before mem day weekend) and the weather was gorgeous, we had a great time. Its not as 'lively' before Memorial Day, but it was enough to make it fun for all, and quiet enough to be able to go on the roller coasters on Great Escapes 4X in a row with no lines !
Its beaituful !! HAVE FUN !!!
