Lake George - it's closer!
Lake placid is like another hour or more away!
I'm going to Lake Placid tonmorrow for a week!

Lake george has a really awesome wax museum, waterskiing, powersailing, and hordes of other things to do. If youare going with a group of legal aged friends their is a great night life on the lake. Oh it is simply amazing and sooo close. It is perfect for a weekend escape i am going with a group of friends for the umpteenth time the first weekend in august.

Thanks for your imput! We decided to go to Lake George ... we are staying at a B&B that ended up having two cancellations.

I am biased.. I went to Lake George every year with my family as a kid and I love going back there now w/DH.. It's a great place.. for some.... if it's your thing..
