Lake George-want to go with our son :-))

We want to go away with our son aka Benji. to Lake George. I did alot of research and have found 4 places of interest that don't look old and drabby. Just wondering if anyone's heard of these or knows of a place that is pet friendly for him to come with.

Glenmoore Lodge on Glen Lake
Hill View Cottages
Whispering Pines Cottages
Fort William Henry Resort Hotel and Conference Center

I LOVE Lake George.
I got a lot of stuff from Fort William Henry Hotel, and it looks really nice

Shamma I come home from every vacation with tons and tons of brochures. Carl dreads it when we walk into a hotel and I see the tourist rack! I go crazy!!

Thanks Diane for the input. What do you suggest we do while we are there? Keeping in mind Benji of course.

I just posted a thread also.
We're looking to go also. We're looking into a few places, one of them is whispering pines also...

Search for the thread, it was posted today.

Here is the Lake George thread . Suzanne and I are both very familiar with the area (can ya tell from our side conversation?! ) and I believe she also posted a few places to stay.

I know two of the four places you mention here. I am actually surprised the Glenmoore is one of them. I basically grew up over the summer at my grandmother's camp right down the street from that place! It's funny, though, because I have never actually been INSIDE, though I've known plenty of people who've stayed there. They have individual cabins as well as a main lodge and it's right on Glen Lake, which is a smaller lake located several miles south of Lake George proper. It's actually a very beautiful, tranquil setting. If you're looking for something quieter, it might be a great place to go.

But if you want to be right in the 'heart of the action' (Lake George Village, etc), the Fort William Henry resort would be better.

I'm not sure I know the other two.

Can you tell me more about what you are looking for (besides pet-friendly) re price, location, atmosphere, and maybe I can be of some help...?

Edited to say...did you just get brochures of the places you mention or do they have websites too? I'm just curious...

Anna so weird we were thinking of visiting the same place!
Thanks for letting me know on your post. I will do a search.

Alison I got a brochure from the visitors bureau and they had a few places that are pet friendly. That is my number one concern. Then being the place. I noticed a few I eliminated were very old looking. We are willing to spend $175 per night. And I acually nixed Glenmoore. Location or atmosphere really doesn't matter to us as long as its quiet. We are trying to get away from all the hustle and bustle. We def. want a kitchen so we eliminated Fort William Henry.
Thinking more of Whispering Pines though. Looks pretty decent and I think 2 blocks from all the action.

Just curious as to why you nixed Glenmoore...if you're looking for a quiet place, that definitely fits the bill. Where is Whispering Pines? It's not on Canada Street, is it?

Whispering Pines is on Dieskau Street. I nixed Glenmoore b/c it doesn't look too updated. And Whispering Pines has that real cabin, country like look to it with the log cabins and all.

Ok, I think I know where that is not and you're right, those are definitely rustic looking whereas Glenmoore is really just ordinary cabins. Although they are both on the 'un-updated' side, if memory serves me correctly. Also, I'm pretty sure Dieskau street is just about a block from the main drag so it really won't be THAT quiet. You'll still get a lot of street noise. BUT this time of year won't be as bad as in, say, August. Still, you're going Memorial Day weekend, right? Hmm. It's a toss-up. But I'm sure no matter what you'll have a good time. Lake George is awesome!

Thanks Alison!! I am so excited… We haven’t had a ‘family’ vacation in over a year and a half! Benji is going to love it!

I forgot to add I spoke with the owner of Whispering Pines yesterday and he said that every year they re-paint the outside of the cabins and fix up anything in the insides during low season. I hope he was telling the truth. I guess we will see…
