Lake George...best place for a couple to stay? - Updated - we booked Days Inn
And about how far is the drive? If we can find a hotel we're going up there next weekend.
TIA
ETA: I probably could have called a bunch of places but we went with Days Inn on Rt. 9
We figure it's not like we'll be hanging around the hotel that much anyway.
And I emailed the steamboat company about a champagne brunch Cruise on Sunday. That should be fun

Lake George is about 5 hours away. Sorry, I have no hotel info, DH and I always camp. So if ya want to camp, the best place is Heartland Campground. I think they have cabins if you would be interested in something like that.

We stayed at the Villager Motel in the town of Lake George..For a motel, it was really nice. That was 2 years ago.

Boop, thanks but we don[t have any camping gear. I've never been interested in camping. I would now but we don't have time to buy all the gear.
Dolphins - I will check them out. Thanks!

I was going to suggest the Sagamore too- I have only seen it from the water but it is gorgeous!
From what I remember there was a hotel, a Best Western I'm pretty sure, when you exit onto 9N to go into Lake George.
I'd also look into bed and breakfasts. You can't beat them for romance, IMO. I found a nice B&B in the Finger Lakes on Empire State Bed and Breakfast Association I don't know when all the schools go back, but it might be hard to get a hotel res, but I bet you'd be able to get a B&B.
