Land's End

Hello all,
We are about to book Land's End for Nov 2010. Anyone have any thoughts to share? Suggestions?

Also if anyone has had or been to a wedding there-we are also looking for advice about hotels in the area.

We are inviting approx 240 people, mostly from the Brooklyn area for a Friday night wedding.
Thanks!

Re: Land's End

Land's End is beautiful!! FH & I went to look there & were very interested but they didn't have dates that worked for us. They book up quickly for the summer and all they had left was late August which is no good b/c I am a teacher.

I've heard only great things about them! I believe they have a little motel right next to Land's End...I don't remember how many rooms it has though

We are booked at Land's End... we fell in love with the place, have always heard wonderful things and the staff has been great so far. Some girls got married there over the summer so if you check the '09 boards you can see some pictures and mini-reviews!

Re: Land's End

I got married there and it was a wonderful experience. The food and cake and service are out of this world. I had one problem afterwards with the food that we were promised. We were under our mininum so they split the difference with us and promised to give us 10 dinners to take home. They didn't give them to us...when we called, we were told that one person exchanged her dinner for something else and some other story....that was the only thing that me and DH got annoyed about. My advice would be to give the smallest mininum you can (to make sure you meet it- take at least 25% off the number of ppl you are inviting) to them. Other than that, they put tog a great wedding and we received many compliments afterwards about the food and service :)

eta: There is the Lands' End Motel across the street but it is small...we blocked at the Hyatt Windwatch (about 30 minutes away).

I went to a wedding there about 7 years ago and I had a BLAST! the food was AMAZING, the bridal party arrived by boat, which was cool.
I had BEGGED FH to check it out, but he liked west lake inn (same food, much cheaper) so he refused to spend more money on the same food. (but lands end is GORGEOUS!)

I can't even tell you how amazing our wedding at Land's End was. The staff there was wonderful. There was no detail left undone and every last detail was beautiful and perfect. The food at the tasting was sooooo good. I wish DH and I were able to eat at the wedding. We were so tired and anxious that we couldn't eat a bite, but they gave us our food to go. All of teh guests said that the food was amazing especially at the cocktail hour. We had the ceremony in the gazebo and the pics are great. Good Luck and if you have any questions FM me. Happy Planning, it goes by way too fast!!!

Congrats! FH and I went to a wedding there a few years ago and we loved the venue. If we were getting married on LI we said it would have been our number 1 choice. Sorry I am not familiar with any hotels in the area.

Re: Land's End

We are booked at land's end for next August! I'm very excited, everything has run smoothly so far, we just booked last month. The staff is lovely and accomodating. As for hotels we checked out the ones around macarthur airport, it should be less than a 15 minute ride (about 6 miles). We blocked with the Hilton Garden Inn on vet's highway, it was very reasonable and could do brunch for us, but there is also a holiday inn, la quinta, and a marriot up there. Good luck, get in touch if you have any questions as I'm just one step ahead of you!
