Re: lands end- food question
there was a ton of food at the cocktail hour - it seemed to be everywhere. The 'stations' were huge. I don't recall if there were only 3, but if thats what it was, it was plenty.
edited to say: I think the number of stations is deceiving because there's more than one thing at each.
Trust me, food is not something you need to worry about there. My family is very picky and they were very impressed.

Re: lands end- food question
I wish I could show you my video - there's great footage of the cocktail hour set up. Read the details of the stations and all the extras that are actually in there (like the eggplant rollatini, etc.).
I remember the antipasto set up took over the whole wall in front of the windows to the left of the ballroom door. The carving station (which is included in the antipasto write up) and pasta (which included the eggplant rollatini, etc) were to the left of the couch. The spanish saute was in the adjoining room.
It just seemed like there was food everywhere.

Re: lands end- food question
I dealt with Gena and Jennifer. We didn't get anything special 'thrown in', except for the particular liquors we asked the bar to stock.
edited to say: Gena's tough. We dealt with her when negotiating price. I guess because the place is so popular, they don't really need to entice you with the 'extras'. If you don't book, they know someone else will.

Re: lands end- food question
I am getting married at Lands End July 6 and while we LOVED the place we had some of the same concerns with the food and how tough Gina is. But I'd heard from enough people how much food there really is, despite it looking like not the usual cornucopia and there seems to be a decent amount of feedback on this board to back that up. We are actually doing our food tasting March 16 (another thing that concerned us...why couldn't we do the tasting before booking, like at every other place?!)...I will let you know how it goes! Good luck!

Re: lands end- food question
I haven't been to Land's End but I've been to Flowerfield. It is the same caterer and 3 stations did not seem like enough. Carlyle gives you 6 for the basic price so I didn't feel any need to add extras there. Hope I haven't confused you!

Re: lands end- food question
I'm getting married at Land's End on June 7, 2003 and went for my food tasting two weeks ago. I was so impressed with all the food we tasted, and so was everyone else that came with me. The way they present the different dinner selections and first and second courses on the plate is really beautiful. They give you really nice portions of everything too. I'm going to have such a hard time picking the menu - everything was delicious!!! I know three people that have gone to a wedding at Land's End and they all RAVED about how DELICIOUS the food was!!! I wouldn't worry about having enough food one bit!!!

Re: lands end- food question
thank you for all your help ladies. i think im going to add stations. i am going to meet with jennifer on saturday. i hope i book it and they give us a good deal. wish me luck!!
I never thought it didn't sound like enough...there was TONS of food...and like lisa said...the tables are HUGE!! from what I remember...there is a pasta station...a station you pick (we chose Spanish - for DH's family - although not quite authentic from Spain food)...a carving station...and an antipasto station/crudite...
I didn't really eat much...but I do remember that at the end of the cocktail party...there was a ton of food still left...
also 10 passed hors ds...(won't even attempt to spell)
