LAND'S END MAY BE IT!!!!!

LAND'S END MAY BE IT!!!!!

WE FOUND IT!!!

I'm couldn't be more excited right now. We started our day out by looking at Chateau La Mer and then Atlantica.

We weren't overly impressed with either (although Atlantica had beautiful views....they wouldn't let us get married on the beach--it had to be their version of beach which is a football field's length away from the water)---PLUS---they wanted to charge $200/pp for an Oct. Sat night wedding which didn't include anything extra (like the sushi station we desperately want). OH....and the fact that they made us wait 20 minutes after our arrival/appointment ---before the manager saw us (she said she was on the phone with another bride who is getting married tomorrow and she had to finish up some plans....I com[;etely understand the explanation and normally wouldn't mind waiting---but we had another appointment and 20 minutes is a bit extensive---I'm an EXTREMELY laid back person and don't mind waiting 5, 10, even 15 minutes....but 20 is pushing it!!!)

Chateau La Mer seems like it might be a nice place at night....but it seemed kinda 'out of place' in it's location. They're in the middle of renovations and I'm sure it will be nice when it's finished.....but just a bit too much marble mixed with the 80's for our taste---PLUS they have two events at the same time.

THEN......we stopped at Land's End after Chateua and Atlantica.....we were in love!!!OH MY GOD!!!!! We so LOVED Land's End!!!!!! We walked into Land's End and just KNEW that was it!!! We are so excited...BUT (and it's a BIG but), we have to work out costs with the parents......they are charging about $140/pp before tax/gratuity (with the sushi station) for Oct Sat. night wedding.....so, there may be a slight problem since we're going to have over 200 people. But, I think we'll make it work no matter what it takes. We met with Jen---she was FABULOUS!!! We ended up being almost a half hour late b/c of an accident on the highway---along with the fact that we were running behind from Atlantica(and she had a 7:00 appointment with another couple)--but she actually took her time and stayed with us to fully explain everything and let the other manager start the other couple. It has EVERY LAST LITTLE THING we were looking for.....it's not 'over the top' with marble and glitzy stuff, very large and well laid out but still extremely comfortable...and the views are magnificant. AAHHHH!!!! I'm so happy. We'll probably set the date as Oct. 8, 2005---but that's pending the parent's approval.

Thank you to everyone who FM'd me with such great advice. Hopefully we'll get an approval on Saturday--when I bring my parents....and I'll let you all know when I get to move onto step #2!!! We're going to continue looking (just in case).....but have a hold on the date until my parents see the place. So---I need your opinion on where to go next.....

Out of the options you posted in the poll I think Bourne is the nicest, but I wasn't impressed with it at all when I checked it out. It looks like it could be awesome, but it needs some TLC in my opinion. And I don't think you'd be able to get the Bourne for $140. for a Sat. in October 2005 when you take their site fee into account. Lands End is the best pick in my opinion. Good luck.

i also picked for you to see bourne next, but i have to agree with evenedan... i also thought bourne looked run down, and the wallpapers in the different rooms seemed very busy to me and not in my taste. but many people love it, so i would give it a chance.

oooohhh, BUT if you're set on having an outdoor ceremony, don't bother with bourne because st. john's won't allow it...
