Landscaping Architect?

Has anyone ever consulted a landscape architect? Someone who could visit your property, take pics and develop a comprehensive landscape plan with blueprints for your property?

We are interested in having a design created for our backyard, but we would complete the work in stages over a period of time - not all at once. Having a blueprint would give us a guideline to work from and a final design to work toward.

I don't own a house yet but did you ever try any of those landscaping programs for your computer. We just bought one for my cousin and it lots of fun mapping out where she wants everything to go. She also has one for the interior of the house so she can mock up how she wants her basement done.

They sell them at all the computer stores.

My friends are landscapers, and build things like ponds, waterfalls, rock walls, railroad ties, and replanting of trees and such. They do wonderful work, so maybe after you get the plans, they can help you implement it.
