My fi & I's original plan was to take pictures at long beach. Post Sandy there is no boardwalk, so we would be on the sand. My problem is that my dress is a mermaid dress with a very pouffy tule bottom. I am scared it is going to be a sand sponge. The last thing I want is to be uncomfortable in my dress. I don't want to spend the whole reception sprinkling sand and tripping over it.
Any thoughts on tule on the beach?
Any suggestions for other locations to take pictures in the south nassau area?

large tule skirt - beach safe?
This exact thing happened to me! We planned on doing our reveal pictures on the boardwalk since we were both getting ready at the Allegria hotel. We decided we were going to move it on to the sand instead once it was obvious the boardwalk wasnt an option anymore. I wasnt sure what it would do to my dress but I decided within reason I wanted to chance it. Turns out day of it was soooo windy and the sand was damp from a few days before so we nixed it last minute and did all our reveal pictures at the Allegria which worked out beautifully. I feel like the conditions have to be perfect in order for the beach idea to work. Damp sand will cling to the dress and make it dirty. I think you have to decide if the pictures you will get will be worth chancing some possible dress issues. Also is it possible that any small portion of boardwalk reconstruction might be done for your day? I am out of the loop on the timing of the project at this point. Good luck!

The last I heard, Long Beach settled on a contract and is looking to rebuild the boardwalk. I'm pretty sure they want at least a section of it constructed by the summer. I'm not sure which section, but some of the boardwalk might be up and running by your wedding. Can't hurt to check it out!

I'm getting married very soon- so there will def be no boardwalk... I'm struggling to come up w other picture ideas. If I had a diff dress I don't think ild be worried. I had a fitting today. When i frst put the dress on, i sad hell no! Then after it was hemmed, it looked more manageable. The seamstress was even like well if you don mnd some sand it will be fine. Arg:/ thanks for the reples ladies :)
